They are a destination club because they are a well run club. “Lifestyle” is merely a bonus.

Many don’t like to admit it, but I envy Geelong a lot. Should look to bring in more of their people into the club. Tom Hawkins is one person I would look to as a part time goal kicking coach. His expert analysis on Fox is first class, particularly when it comes to the nuances in forward craft. Steve Johnson is another who had done a lot of good with the Sydney coaching ranks.

Bartel is the other we shouldn’t give up on. Director of footy would be ideal.

I think id sacrifice one assistant coach for a few part time expert coaches in their positions , as in Hawkins , goalkicking,

BUT I can see why an argument could me made that at the least it might create challenges.

The runner sends messages from the coach, and by definition is connected to the coach and has to have a close working relationship with them.

Let's say for the sake of argument Windsor was reallly upset with Goody last week for electing to sub him, which wouldn't be that surprising as he was very stiff to be subbed (when I wanted to work out who was subbed I put my binos on him.and he looked filthy).

Windsor is so upset he wants to speak to the welfare officer.

Does he really want to speak to the fella who gave him the message, is in constant dialogue with goody and has a close relationship with him?

And does he want to criticise goody to conca?

Maybe, but maybe he doesn't want to be fully honest with conca for fear it will get back to goody.

It’s been clear for some time now that they’re a deeper governance and management problems at the club that are preventing us from attracting players, specialists and high quality line coaches to replace the likes of Yze and Burgess. And while we might not agree with the specific examples Cato has cited, she correctly puts attention on the broader issues rather than the simplistic “solution” of sacking the senior coach.

i don't see how anyone can disagree with what she's listed

it's mostly things that have been known for some time

She went from us (in Comms) to Collingwood in November 2022 and was with them in Footy Ops roles for 1 year and 6 months, before coming back to us.

Darren Shand was supposedly hired to lead cultural improvement and drive leadersip yet caro didn't make the obvious point that the efficacy of that work is at the very least in question.

And she mentions Pert and the home base, but gave him and the club a complete pass on the fact he was supposedly staying at the club to drive that project and 6 months lager we appear no closer to it being landed.

Pretty obvious Pert has been a big source for her. Basically never had a bad word to say about him.

I believe some maybe unwittingly conflating timeliness with voracity.

It to me is somewhat damning that much of what she describes can indeed be suggested as being old news. But it's still relevant as were so bloody slow to address anything. That is the sad thing.
