Unacceptable q1, average from there. Lost players early which impacted rotations, but we are just not good enough.

Another wasted year.

Not sure what happens now.

We've wrecked these kids development & they don't seem to take the next step.

Or maybe they were never that good.

Another three hours I’ll never get back.

It should have been May dropped instead of Lever. Has gotten absolutely smashed by his opponents the last few games and has just seemed to have lost it. If the selection team had some sense, TMac would be in next week in his place,

Season over

Been over since the opening 5 games. Just has.

But it's not all doom and gloom. Is a lovely sunny winters day up here in Qld. Apparently all but an hour away some clown mob in red and blue played at playing football. Alas...no chocolates.

The Dees wouldn’t come to the party but I had one , well a very nice lunch at Ciao Papi on the Brissy River with family and friends. See....you can enjoy football. Just don't watch us !!

Insensitive some might protest. Well not nearly as much as the contempt shown by Melbourne to it's supporters. I truly salute those that ventured down the road. I do.

You'll excuse me , I have a dinner to get ready for.

The players got their just desserts ... I've yet to ponder mine. Maybe Tiramasu or a moorish Creme Brulee ...mmmmm

It's a Grand ol' .. It's a G̶r̶a̶n̶d̶ o̶l̶d̶ team... just, barely..

Anyone recommend the replay ?

Third game out of our the last four on the road. A player down for three quarters (we had 13 fewer interchange rotations as a result). Opponent is a top 8 contender who’s lost something like 2 games at home in 2 years.

Is that enough to offset a disgraceful first quarter? Laying just 7 tackles in the first quarter (to their 18) despite them having 23 more touches is nothing but unacceptable.

And if that wasn’t enough, we then had 8 more inside 50s (all in the fourth) and 7 more scoring shots than them across the last three quarters but only outscored them by a combined 17 points, because we kicked 12.12 to their 10.7.

Yet another game where we have one awful quarter, and yet another game of inaccuracy (is it any wonder that the inaccuracy got worse as the game got closer? No, is the answer).

Pack up your stuff Simon, your Gameplan is not up to it & the Team is not Fit enough

The Longer you stay on, the more damage will occur

it’s like watching a train wreck and it starts from the top with what’s occurred off field to our President & CEO then it filtrates to decisions made at the footy dept & target both experienced assistant coaches & trade in experience talent to fill the holes in our list yet we got VFL players and all due respect to Jones who we love but he’s no Yze or Maqualter both come from premiership teams and are now coaching.

I reckon that was the most enjoyable game so far this season!

During the first quarter I was in a meeting with my local footy club discussing how we can improve the development of our younger players.

During the second quarter I cleaned up the front yard.

During the third quarter I watched our friends place get auctioned off.

During the 4th quarter I was preparing our windows ready for installation into our extension.

Can somebody tell me how the team went? On second thought, its been a great day, let's not spoil it.

Not trying to seem facetious , truly not but I will ask THE question and it's really the only one:

Why, why the same same same maladies ??

Aren't there people ; professional types, specifically employed to oversee and fix these things ??

And then there's us.

Ahhh... uber here...

No explaining or excusing the first quarter. They did not turn up to play and should be ashamed. There was no coming back from that.

That first Q was putrid. As Jono Brown said it was the worst quarter all year from any team

If we put in any effort in that Q we win. so damn frustrating

Clayton Oliver is a shadow of his former self. Sad to see and hard to watch.

Jefferson is not afl level. JVR would of had more impact.

I disagree, probably didn't get to enough contests, but when he did, brought it to ground.

And he actually leads at ball carrier, apart from melksham all others ran away from ball.

Need to persist.

See how he and JVR go next few weeks.

Congrats to him but shame that Melksham kicked 5 goals. He's not the future

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
