It was telling in an interview with Jake Melksham after last week's game about how he feels about the game against Adelaide. His immediate response was "yeah, another away game" with emphasis on another. Everyone is feeling it.

I noticed that too. He was careful not to show his disdain. Of course, at Gosch’s the players don’t hold back on how they feel about the consecutive interstate games.

PS: Wondering at what point you’ll change your username back to Longsuffering? 😁

I don't know that we are, but with Petty out I'm not sure who else could have come in as a KPF? Fullarton?

Fullarton has about as much aggro as Milton the Monster, so thats a no from me!

First bit is correct

Petty should be put on ice until next year. Results this year are not going to change what happens on 2026. (Who ever coaches).

Play whoever might form best 22 next year for a series of games. Thinking JvR. Kolt, Brown, Woey, AJ even Jefferson and Laurie.

At least then we might find a treasure,

If Windsor plays only on the wing please.

And Disco forward.

We need to trade some favourites while they have currency not thinking #5 or #13.

Lose 6 or 7. Trust JT and bring in some new blood. I will look for positives if not on the scoreboard , somewhere.deep cuts need in the playing list and FD. The system is broken.

Don't blame him.

It's absolutely horrendous fixturing by the AFL and I have 0% doubt that we're the first Victorian club ever to play 3 consecutive interstate games. Most VIC clubs would go 1 win out of 3 at best against a Port/GC/Adelaide set that we've copped. All 3 are hard assignments.

Also, travelling to Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Adelaide in a 10 week patch was always going to take its toll for a Victorian team that isn't used to regular travel.

With that being said, It was on the onus of the club to bank a number of wins in the first 5 rounds when we played some poor teams (North and Essendon) and hosted interstate teams at the MCG (GWS and GC) which are non negotiables in my book. We only travelled once in the first 7 rounds (with that one trip being a neutral Gather Rd game) and should have utilised that advantage to cushion the inevitable mid season blow that the fixture provided.

The club will surely enjoy some routine in the final 7 weeks as we don't leave the MCG or Marvel and I'm expecting some wins in the North/Carlton/St Kilda/West Coast block of games.

The Muppets What GIF by ABC Network

My hopes for the final team are as follows:

FB: Bowey May Lever

HB: McVee Turner Salem

C: Lindsay Petracca Langdon

HF: Viney van Rooyen Chandler

F: Melksham Jefferson Pickett

R: Gawn Oliver Rivers

Int: Tholstrup Langford Billings Sparrow

Sub: Sharp

CBA Options:

I want to see the mids put into categories such as:

Bulls - Oliver/Viney/Trac

Users - Pickett/Rivers/Langford

We should never have more than 2 players from the two categories above in the same CBA. It will ensure if say Oliver is in there, we surround him with Pickett and Rivers, or Trac and Pickett.

I'm sick of constantly seeing Trac, Viney and Oliver in the same CBA.

I also want to see more even numbers as opposed to Viney Trac and Oliver at 80-90% CBAS and then a Langford at 5%.

I also wouldn't be opposed to adding Lindsay or McVee to the midfield rotations as a 'user'.

Funny how quickly the game evolves.

At the start of the year, every man and his dog would be backing a Trac/Oliver/Viney starting midfield over a Dawson/Peatling/Berry starting midfield.

Agree. But of course we’ll see JVR forced to ruck when Gawn’s off, and probably only play 70% game time, giving him a handicap in terms of trying to actually play as a forward.

70% if only it was that high. I would be happy. In his last game he only spent 67% of the game on the ground. He would have struggled to spend 50% playing as a forward. He shows promise but this ruck role is killing his development. If I was him I would be telling my agent to find me a new home. We are killing him. Play him as a KPF if not let him go to a new home because the current stragedy is not working.

So far this year the only team we have beaten in that block is the Eagles. North best us by 9 goals. The Saints besat us easily a couple of weeks ago. I am far from confident we will any of those games.

TBF Milton’s huge and can easily out-body even the best defenders.

If you say so LDC.

Will be watching The Croms closely in the 2nd half

Burgess will be starting the run to September around about now….

Goody’s Presser this morning was very strange. I only got 60% through it….

Reckon there is a chance T Mac or Adams comes in with Lever

Would give us some flexibility playing Lever Loose or swinging Turner forward

Just listened to Goodys press.press.press.he is delusional, same speech every time, its a process going forward yet well keep playing the 3 turn over kings in the middle.really, that's not going forward, that's starting 2026 poorly.same [censored] all the time,I'd much rather watch the kids get beaten than watch the old boys get beaten

I only got through 40% before falling asleep

I wonder if we get belted this weekend the media will jump on us. I feel like Carlton's demise has taken the pressure off us. We are a club in no-man's-land and I feel supporter engagement is at an all time low.

With the way Adelaide are playing this could be a 10 goal loss.

I just wish he would show some emotion.

Get angry that we have burnt another season. The current process isn’t working, so i really don’t want to hear about it every 30 seconds.

Hardwick would be a great Coach for this list.

I’m happy if these were the actual positions. They played in.

I’d really prefer to see someone else as sub.

Lever playing loose is the reason he was dropped and why its cost us goals. Spent majority of the game against Port guarding grass and being next to ineffective the whole time.

Clubs have worked him out fairly easily and if you can get him body on body he gets beaten easily.

Hes become more of a liability as the season goes on.

I'd be throwing him up as trade bait at the end of the year.

You are not wrong

I don't know how you watch it

Makes me grind my teeth

Just low iq garbage how anybody puts up with it beats me

The club really have to intervene with this guy he is killing the club and players

I'm just looking to the elite forward entries that don't seem to result in actual goals that often....

Yes a coach that shows emotion, like a supporter, rabble though we are. It means they are a little bit more invested in the outcome/result rather than it just being a job. May as well work from home. We all know the angry ones.

Would hate to have Hardwick, he was Essenscum 2000 no way , Jose !

Not true at all. South Melbourne and Fitzroy have been doing it for decades.

The best we can do after 3 consecutive losses is two forced changes. 🥱

Do better Goodwin.

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
