A very poor way to end our year, tail tucked between our legs………….well we’re trying to tuck it between our legs, but we keep missing.

Something has to be said about players having career day/ break out games against us.

Georgiades x 2,

Ugle Hagan,

Treacy,

Harley Reid,

Keeler are recent examples in the last two years alone.

To add insult to this, Georgiades when interviewed post game said it was good to have an easier week after playing opposed to Sam Taylor last week. Shows the contempt we are fairly met with and why Hinkley would of said as such as 3QT.

Poor at selection

Keeps rewarding players who haven't earned it or badly out of form

Poor on game day. Persisting with Petty & Rooh forward when they keep failing week after week. Playing both Fritta & Melk in the same role. No smalls or mids capable of kicking goals aside from Kozz.

Same old amature undisciplined trash almost every match now

One of only three teams to lose to Norf and we lost by 10 goals +

There are only four teams with a worse percentage than ours...

The Peptides

Norf

Tigers

Eagles

Membership is down approx 15% & will be worse next season

Likely to finish the season in same spot as last year (or worse!)

We have become so predictably bad. Unwatchable.

Ty for the cup. Forever indebted but time to go Simon (at year's end)

10 wins in the past 29 games. We are the absolute definition of a bottom 4 side.

After the bye we simply have to play the kids. Melksham, Lever, Salem should not be playing senior football. Probably May, Viney and Oliver as well.

Knowing Melbourne we'll probably give Goodwin an extension over the break, when we should be finding his replacement.

ABC radio reported that Kozi was targeted late in the first quarter (two blows behind play).

A possible reason for his drop off in the second half?

Absolutely he was targeted that ruckman who he grappled with tried to break his legs. If it Faicos free everywhere. AFL will do nothing.

8 marks inside fifty and 7.4 goals to Mitch "Kent Kingsley" Georgiadis is an embarrassment to our defensive system

This bloke had 8 marks inside 50 today. Yes that's the number 8, we're lucky to get that each game.

Our once 'No Fly Zone' backline is dead.

Goodwin getting no favours from the group with days like today. Past the winning stoppages and contests - it’s the same old story.

Goodwin has at least next year - I think it is very clear that we need to surround him with a new slate of voices and if there is no shift then that is that.

Ultimately, the players coach has to get them to adapt, make better decisions, and commit to the way they want to move the ball. Otherwise…

How many players on this list can kick a set shot at least 8 times out of 10 when the game is in the balance?

I reckon we have maybe 3 absolute tops. The bulk of the list are 4 or 5 out of 10 guys. In games where momentum swings, it stings.

You're right. As much as I hate Chris Scott he's on record as saying he made scoring accuracy (from i50?) number one priority a couple of years back.

We have so many players who are content to 'just have a ping'.

Trac, Sparrow et al today.

I wonder when the club will start releasing the YouTube videos “All of the Melbourne Points brought to you by Haymes”. Would be a hell of a lot longer than the existing material.

This has gone on for 4 years, i am glad people are starting to realize that we cannot keep going down this road

Goodwin deserves Life Membership, but he has to go

We win all the stats, except the important one

The Learnings are not the right ones

Such a wasteful Forward Line Simon….

Over & Over again….

We are going to finish bottom 6 2 years in a row, so you’d have to think that significant player changes will come at seasons end.

The game has gone by our midfield, and we refuse to let forwards lead up at the ball carrier - instead deciding that kick to one spot and everyone huddle together is our best option to kick a goal. The coach has been too slow to see the shift in the game and far too loyal to his players, and in return the players have let him and the club down on and off the field. In the end I imagine they’ll all go down together.

The AFL doesn’t want teams to win kicking 8 goals, they want 16-18 goals. The game has changed a lot. I fear we are in for a serious rebuild.

Whilst the modern game is made for pianists we have all the piano lifters.

Disgusting, our senior players not only butcher the ball with their garbage disposal, they butcher our chances with their idiotic decision making.

Sparrow, Max, Petty those misses in the 3rd are unforgiveable. You simply CANNOT miss those dead set sitters. Not good enough from our captain and senior players.

Bombing down the line when we needed to switch play to open up the forward line. Horrible.

Disco switched forward, now bloody leave him there!!!

Petty can get stuffed, he was a little better today but still completely ineffective as a key forward. Get rid of him, TMac or Jeffo in next game.

Kozzie did nothing after the HIA, hope he's ok.

Melksham, Rivers, Sparrow, Viney, Chandler all useless today. Roo showed a bit early then fell away once he was forced into the ruck. Leave him up forward FFS and let him develop, we are killing him.

Forwards stop trying to cheat out the back, lead up to the [censored] kicker.

I am ropeable with that performance, back to the same old [censored], we need to turnover a few senior players the game has gone past them. We cannot keep all of Viney, Oliver and Petracca they are all butchers of the footy. We need to trade Petty while someone may still be dumb enough to give us a half decent pick for him.

Kozzie sniped out of it changed the game

Much like what they've done to Max years gone by

Looked to be lying out cold about a minute before the Butters snipe. Obviously no replays or mentions on comms.

3 million dollars into Oliver and Petracca every year til 2030, we are stuffed. Viney til 28’. No speed, no skill. In 2025 and beyond that will get you absolutely no where. We are an old fashioned midfield. Not sure what to do from here. No one‘a going to take these contracts or players on.

Time to be ruthless and overhaul the midfield.

We clearly don't/can't have 3 of Viney, Petraca and Oliver moving forward.

We just simply can't water the young and talented core we have. Who btw are much more skilled than those 3 already mentioned.

Better analysis will come but for now, the overwhelming feeling is that we’ve taken a promising run of form and absolutely [censored] it up against the wall right when we needed to buckle down and focus before the bye.

Yep. We [censored] so hard today, we blasted a hole in the bricks.

I reckon we have maybe 3 absolute tops. The bulk of the list are 4 or 5 out of 10 guys. In games where momentum swings, it stings.

Also, the psychology of it seems to be that because we have so many players who can’t kick set shots, in each game, early on, 3 or 4 easier shots are missed which brings in the trigger for the whole team re: ‘here we go again’, and the pressure builds on each set shot.

No, we're playing the bugle wearing a blazer

It is totally unacceptable to only have 5 wins at this stage of the season with the list that we have got. It must get down to coaching so big changes are needed.

I love Milkshake but he's chance of a contract extension is slipping away on the back of today's performance.

The gap between his best and worst is huge.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
