Trading into a top 8 team must come with huge deterrents

I agree but everyone else looking at the downside, of omg heโ€™s 30 which means heโ€™s over the hill and only a few years left, a poor kick and wonโ€™t ever get back to his pre injury form

Which is all true tbh.

Lots of questions need to be asked of how we manage to stuff up our only Norm Smith Medalist! Iโ€™m disappointed in Trac also as the other leaders are not jumping ship and instead of being part of the solution he wants out, the selfless has gone!

Fagan spoke about brotherhood amongst the playing group, hope King can develop this and feel for him losing a player like Trac, why would he want to keep him now, what message is that sending to the group, itโ€™s not team itโ€™s Me, Me, Me,

How long are we going to continue to know sweet FA.??

Until we dont

Iโ€™m just flat.

A few years ago I thought we had turned the corner and had some genuine stars and good culture and a sustained run at being a good clubโ€ฆ.

And in true Melbourne fashion it was all gone in a blink of the eye.

List management happens over the longer term. They could be equally eyeing someone for next year (e.g. Butters has been mentioned).

I agree that next year will be a bit of an ask if we lose McVee, May and Petracca - but you'd think it's going to be a transition/learning year in any case.

Then why would Butters want to come to us over the Bulldogs , Geelong , Hawthorn , Collingwood etc , particularly if we are a bottom four side ? Very hard to attract superstars with just bay loads of Money , don't want to end up like North have for years throwing loads of Money at stars and everyone turned them down for ages

The end is some ways off and I wonder if it just me but I am already over the his leaving. He is a good player it's not the end of the world if he leaves. On the up side we get $1 million plus out of our salary Cap. If we can get a good deal then best of luck Trac. We need a team of happy campers.

This is eos 25... we might be a different beast eos26 .. ( I certainly hope so )

I like your sentiment and I want him gone. However our club has made a meal of its stars and the list as a whole. This simply doesnโ€™t happen at strong, well led and well run clubs. To me it looks like we havenโ€™t been strong enough to stop the tail wagging the dog. Please move Richardson along because from the outside Iโ€™d say heโ€™s part of the problem. let the broom finish its work.

Look Iโ€™m not totally disagreeing here. But letโ€™s remember that amidst us being a โ€œmessโ€, we havenโ€™t actually lost a star player yet. Not only that, we signed Kosi for 9 years.

So yes maybe this doesnโ€™t happen at a well run strong club, or maybe Trac is who he is and no matter how well run we become, we still wonโ€™t be big enough for him.

If you donโ€™t want the tail wagging the dog, then you donโ€™t want players dictating list management decisions or field positions. And you certainly donโ€™t want players who feel they are bigger than the club.

Also Iโ€™m in complete agreement re: Richo. His end is coming soon. How soon Iโ€™m not sure.

I think this one requires patience. Consider that Trac is mercenary; he said so at the BNF. It's my job! He can explore all he likes with the club's blessing, but he may find it is just too hard, and I don't believe he or his mob will contemplate any reduction in his wage.

Can he and his team engineer more money? I doubt it! As Gary Lyon declared recently, "What can Adelaide offer"? I would love to know what Melbourne's trigger is to say do it

At this stage, Tom Morris has reiterated, we are not chasing him out or putting him on the market. He hasn't snuck off and been seen having a coffee with Mitchell at Hawthorn. It is a little different to Steven May, where the club initiated the look elsewhere, but if nothing comes to fruition, he stays and plays at Casey a lot.

These phantom trades are so annoying. Adelaide aren't giving up Rachele.

Of course.

I do wonder how channel 9 got wind of Trac landing at Adelaide airport?

Seems odd they had a camera crew and reporters at the airport on a random Monday afternoon.

If Adelaide is not prepared to pay all of his wage - forcing Melbourne to still chip in some of his salary at a new club next season - the Demons would certainly ask for a better return on the picks.

If Trac wants to join Adelaide and Adelaide don't want to pay his full wage why would Melbourne pay the difference. This makes absolutely no sense. Surely Melbourne would tell Trac that as long as we recieve suitable compensation we don't care where he goes but that it is up to him whether they are prepared to pay him what we are or to negotiate a lower amount.

We only trade Trac if we get some real value in return! Simple! Crows have [censored] picks, not sure what they have to offer the Demons!

Iโ€™d talk to Port, youโ€™re losing Butters next year why donโ€™t you take Trac and a future first now!

Heโ€™s not going to tell the actual truth - they won that game based purely on talent, and in that regard they get an all mighty advantage.

15 months ago most of Brisbaneโ€™s playing list werenโ€™t talking to each other because of the fall out from a footy trip WhatsApp.

โ€˜Cultureโ€™ is what poor clubs squabble over while real clubs get what matters - talent.

You do realise Tracc had to board a flight in Melbourne around 80 minutes before he landed in Adelaide. If the camera crews were at Melbourne airport or if it was 1975 you might wonder but not these days.

Perhaps Trac should look at Dayne Zorko hung around when everyone was leaving from the Lions when they were poor & no one wanted to go there, is a premiership player twice as 35 & 36 yo, he decided to be part of the solution!

If it does go through Iโ€™ll take some small comfort in knowing that Trac has to live in Adelaide. Iโ€™ve never know how a city can be both โ€œmurderyโ€ and boring at the same time.

You sure about that?

No. I would assume from what I've heard and the fact Petracca was a star pre-injury and Goodwin a lauded coach that there was plenty of love and respect as both helped Melbourne thrive. But things can change and I've been wrong before. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Haha this is so factually incorrect its not funny..

Someone on his plane would have ratted.

Possibly GCS also knew he was going and called it in, to put the pressure on Adelaide for not being transparent.

Camera crews donโ€™t just randomly hang out at Melbourne airport either

Itโ€™s possible that someone saw him at Melbourne airport for sure, but itโ€™s curious nevertheless.

Lachie Neale.

He was rumoured to wanting to go back to Perth in 2022. Lions had not lived to the expectations in finals at that time.

His partner is from Perth, family in Perth, Fremantle starting to become a contender.

But he decided to stay put, work and deliver to his club.

Give me a Lachie Neale everyday. Or a Bontempelli for that matter.

I heard media have spotters at strategic locations like airports. Usually airport staff pass on tips. Not sure if true or not but persons of interest are all too often found by media at airports.
