This.....If the stories were true Goodwin's response would have been "I'm not going to be drawn in to discussing articles written about Clayton, I've got a strong relationship.......blah blah blah, he didn't he categorically stated the articles weren't true. I mean it's from some pretty low life click baiters.

I've oscillated on Oliver over the journey. Hindsight says we probably trade him at the end of 23 when we'd have likely got 2 high picks and most of his salary covered. Now I'm in the keep him and keep building him camp. He's been through some pretty serious tumult over the last 3 years. He's clearly got the backing of his coach, captain and his team mates. He's still racking up good numbers whilst not being as damaging as he once was, although that 3rd quarter against Richmond was pretty damn good. He's only 27 so potentially has 6-7 more good years in him. He'll get fitter again this pre season and there's no reason his formline won't continue to improve over the next few years. I'm actually starting to think the club has done a phenomenal job supporting him and getting him back on the field. For all the [censored] the media has slung his and our way here's a kid fronting up to work day in day out working his backside off to help his team. It's a fair effort. You don't have to look very far to see just how badly it can turn out for stars of the game.

It’s Jay Clark’s article in the HS last Tuesday that I have a problem with. He in the whole page or more made up scenarios that were not true and simply tried to show that he was going to leave at the end of the season to Geelong.

He showed no Empathy for Clarry at all and I have no respect for his journalism as chief footy writer for the HSun.

Robbo or Mike Sheehan would never have emptied on Clarry like he did.

Let’s give him the support and I believe another Demon forum have suggested at 13 minutes in the first quarter we stop and clap for Clarry as a show of support.

That is a most uplifting public show of worthy support of this whole saga for Clarry.

The pile on is (was?) quite incredible from so many journos 58. Although surprisingly Morris did back it off a little last week. That's a first.

However, most still manage to bring it up somewhere in their general narrative. Even if it's an update to say "nothing to see here".

If the filth were doing this 'managed' scenario with DeGoey the media would be falling over themselves to applaud fly and the club and what a great job they're doing managing their playing group. Cutting edge etc!

Both Trac and Oliver to play 200 games this year assuming nothing sinister.

Just can’t help but feel sad that it had to happen this year of all years. Probably a little unlikely to win in their milestone games.

Naming Robbo as a moral champion is one of the most hilarious things on here. He was one of the worst journo's going around for gutter journalism.

Obviously short memory about Alex Fasolo?

Is McClure pursuing meida relevance and clicks? All of the above? we just dont know.

What we do know is that McClure's just a slimy grub who'll say anything for attention.
How anyone can take anything he says seriously is beyond me.

Clarry visited my niece's school today and they got both their jumpers signed by him. They're giving me the smaller one that they've grown out of which I bought them for them. I've been buying their memberships since the day they were born, and i would say it's an investment that is now paying off! I hope he stays a one club player. It will make this piece of memorabilia much more sentimentally valuable

Can we put this on Kozzie's locker too?

As someone who oscillated on Oliver, whether to keep or trade, whether he was worth the trouble, whether he would get his A game back, whether he was more trouble than he was worth, even whether the club should keep investing in him. I look at his game yesterday and think what an incredible job he, Goodwin and the club has done to get that performance from him. Watching and listening to the crowd after he kicked that goal and came off have me goosebumps. The club and Oliver have been kicked from pillar to post for 18 months and has stuck fat. Brad Green deserves some respect for that. It feels like we’ve galvanised, no mention of culture, no overt displays, just hard freaking work and honesty.

Obviously winning makes these posts easier to write but what Oliver and the club have achieved takes a lot of hard work from a lot of people, all working in the same direction. Pretty solid effort and one that Goodwin deserves a lot of credit for.

Oh and I think we’ve found our social media photo…..team post match in the locker room!

I said it before and I’ll say it again Petracca, Oliver and Pickett are going nowhere.❤️💙🙏

The renaissance begins. Im glad the team has found its mojo back and its competitiveness and confidence.

Onwards and upwards.

To the untrained eye, the first image appears to show Clarry expressing sheer joy but if you pan down, you will see it is sheer agony. The culprit may wish he wasn't identifiable by the thumb strapping lol.

That IMO is not real agony it’s him taking in the meaning if his goal and the possible potential of any sporting physical affection being misplaced.

All’s well that ends well hugs crushes maybe but Clarry escapes to a moment that he will never forget. The whole MCC plus Demon members area standing in total common support clapping and cheering for him. Totally a response for the ages as all our summer and pre season challenges are washed away further evidenced by the team song with Trac’s Dad in the circle with Goody.

Now will the media please back off and reconsider and recognise the moving on, the grieving and the experience has provided some lessons but really none that should or appear To be a breaker at trade time.

It is a grand old flag and its heart is beating true to whatever is in store for the next half of the season notably 12 rounds which we could win anything from say half a dozen or double figures to cement a Finals berth.

Go Dees ❤️💙🏆

Until one of them goes somewhere…

It has been a good 6 weeks but we have to be very serious about how the list is managed the next 2 years especially - we might have the whip hand from a contractual POV with Pickett and CP5 seems back to his best, but Oliver has to continue to evolve in this modern game or we just have to move him on for the salary he is taking. Viney was moving to that role and it fitted him well, we can’t have them both do it, but we also must continue to move Rivers into the middle and allow Langford minutes in there.

I guess my point is that I am glad we are improving but we still have hard decisions to be made and they are made harder not easier by our good form.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
