Yea dire times but it's only three games in and remember the Lions doing the same start last year, and then recovering to win the Grand Final.

And Carlton in the year prior losing a patch of eight out of nine, to beat us in a semi. Ok yes they got lucky with our atrocious delivery into our fwd line and similar kicking at goal and then our mishandling in the last 40 seconds.

But the history books don't mention that. Or that Brisbane were defeated by much better teams than we have faced in our three losses and by much less too. ( Excluding GwS.)

But history does have records of teams being in deeper doo doo, we currently find ourselves in.

Probably not the best place to have to turn things around down in Geelong but we have had one of our greatest wins there in 2021 .

But a loss there which most punters forecast will see an inordinate amount of pressure upon us with the Dons in Adelaide. But this time a venue where we've had even better success.

Will the players have our previous performances at these grounds see their subconscious bring about some similar ones?

If not ,I fear five and zip is just insurmountable. And yes as mentioned the above have climbed such heights , we are not at present in the same league so to speak as many of those.

So as the old saying goes and it's rarely more apt..." This is a must win game".

Alas, I'm pretty confident we won't win. Either.

Which links this to other threads and apologies if I've inappropriately created another.

But my main for this was not to point out our numerous flaws. There's not enough space in the server but rather to allow you good Demonland people ( and some mates) a place to just express their disgust, disappointment, disdain and displeasure of being a Dees ( and not so much ) delighter in these dirty days. Again I foresee server issues.

Let it out folks. You deserve better. Especially the heroes that pay their memberships and take their families to all the games, good weather and bad. Contrary to the false media we are not mostly fair weather fans.

You need to vent otherwise it may manifest itself in drink, drugs, dalliances or any manner of destroying and dangerous decisions.

I know it's only a game and I for one am trying to ween myself off it a little, but it can when winning give just so much joy and happiness. And then worth every penny. So it's harder to give up than tobacco ... especially pipes. Maybe a footy tax?

Just for perspective.....my marriage, my first born, my second born, a dream job offer and then the 2021 cup. Although the last two are out of sync I think.

Some of us footy tragics and like me need to tone it down and definitely dial back the delirium and focus more on balancing our lives for our families, our loved ones ....(Freudian slip), our friends and our careers.

So I'm going to temper expectations ((preparing for only a twelve goal smash) and focus on the real things in life.. Cricket

No my family and work . Also fix my house more on the weekends. Still looking for our beautiful cocker spaniel in the backyard grass. Not sighed after my half time screaming during the Gws encounter.

So rather than clog other threads with just justfiable complaints and anger I have.....

I sympathetically present this thread for your viewing enjoyment but more importantly your necessary opportunity to keep your insanity in check. That goal in the last 40 seconds by Gcs alone justifies the existence of this thread. Plus that crazy Gcs club song.

I'm hoping you are all ok and that your psychological condition is not in danger of imploding .

In other words.....

Do we really need ANOTHER new thread bemoaning our current plight when there are already so many to choose from (or avoid)?

It's only thread #15644 about the same thing. I'll let it through.

Brisbane lost their first three games by a combined margin of less than we lost on the weekend.

We have mcvee, Langford, Windsor, Lindsay, kossie (hopefully) etc. plenty to build on. Important trade and draft period coming up for sure but we’re along way from returning to the dark days.

I know but selfishly I feel a lot better.

I'm not thinking about a flag, i think everyone around these traps just wants to see improvement within the team.

If we make mistakes let's make them trying to move the footy on quicker by hand or foot.

I want to see some real intent in our ball movement by going quick from play on opportunities and overlap from our supporting players.

Us as supporters don't want to see things slowed down and let the opposition get behind the ball and make it even more difficult to move it by foot.

And pretty please try a new midfield mix without Viney, Clarry and Tracc together it ffs.

It doesn't work anymore teams are onto this by adding agile more evasive mids in at centre clearances especially.

Can we start with a the game with Kozzie, Trent and Clarry give Tracc and run through the guts after 10 mins try JV7 in a fwd pocket in a role he's played before.

Then, Chin, Kozzie and JV7 mix it up let's get a different look in there and not contain all the plodders in at once. 2 youngsters and 1 vet in at a time at center bounce.

Get creative Simon and co try and find a balance because things are going to change unless we tweak a few things.

A glance on DL this week:

  • Back to the dark days

  • Time to Start a rebuild?

  • End of an Era

  • Media Madness

  • Time to go Goody?

It's a tough one, certainly has people thinking.

Anyone who thinks Melbourne can do a Brisbane (lose first three then win the flag) is deelusional.

Sad but very true.

I mentioned it for context .

It was an interesting season for the lions.

Also our three losses were catastrophic compared to theirs.

Thanks Vdl

I'm glad you finished your moniker with the word land on the end of it, otherwise it makes a pretty bad hyphenation.

God that would be a year round drainer right now!

No, that's not going to happen (Dark days again)

Still got a stack of talent on the list with I suspect, more talent to come in the off-season (let's give JT 4 or 5 decent picks and let him work his magic)

As for the game plan, once we do click into gear, look out!!

How long away is that? Well, as soon as the players grasp hold of it all ... so hopefully sooner than we think

The future is bright, we've just got a bit to sort out, right now

The dark days were caused by offloading our leaders. We haven't done that (yet). Lose Petracca, Oliver, Pickett, and we will go back to those days.

Even if those three go, there is still an enormous-Barry-Prendergast-sized leap between where we would be and our dark days

We won't lose all three. We've also clearly drafted for life after them.

If nothing else, at least Carlton are going down the same trajectory if we do end up back in the doldrums.

Always love Blues radio and hearing the [censored] Koutafedes and Andrew Maher in pain. Pains to say, but I hope Pies give it to them as I tune in to Blues radio tonight.

Even when we are at our lowest, Carlton always seem to surpass us to go even lower. 🤣😂

But one of those threads isn’t about how bad we are playing.

Dark Times , FFS 4 years ago we had a pandemic, get a grip.

One of the worst things I have ever said but it’s like another World War may wake some people up to reality and what dark times and struggles really are.

Footy clubs have ups and downs

Which leader did you have in mind? Perhaps, JnrMac and then? Rather than develop maturity in house, MFC bought in ageing stars like Cross, that guy from Geelong and others. Recall the senior players allowing Collingwood to monster in Watts on debut.

Why are Melbourne supporters so Chicken Little-like? Drop an acorn and the sky is falling in.....

We did just get roundly smashed by North and GC, the latter on our home deck which they last won at before they were even invented!

They're not Acorns they're hot steaming piles of 💩

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
