Bowey very good, Rivers worked his way back into it after some howlers, had looked off the pace for the first 2 games, May will be better for the run, great to have Melksham back - if only the ball could get to his part of the ground more often - Langford has cemented his place for the rest of the season, and we have Pickett and Lever back next week.

I might have dreamt it, but didn't we used to be good? Once upon a time?

Thanks Simon, the game is up. Please start clearing out your office tonight. This garbage has been slowly building for 2-3 years

You have no concept of attacking football. You don’t train players to attack

You train to stop the opposition, and now that has stopped

We need new Coaches NOW, not next year

This season reminds me of 2007 when we went into the doldrums for over a decade. I now dread our encounter against WC on May 3rd. Glad I pre booked two overseas trips over the course of the season. I won’t be buying into the WatchAFL app when away.

Any chance we can win a clearance, hold a tackle or even get on the same page a teammate? Simply gut wenching to watch!

We need answers by the coach and president. This is substandard.

We’ve already had them.. We are beyond that

I know Goodwin will say we believe in our plan and program, that it was unacceptable today, that we know what we need to do etc... But we need more from him today. We, the members and supporters need an explanation from coach and President.

[censored] me ! We have officially returned to the bad old days.

It's just round 3 and you can start planning your September holidays.

Abswruckinlukely.

Falling headfirst into the abyss and lead by players who should know and play so much bloody better.

Total disgrace.

Goodbye Goody.

I defended you last week but I am totally unaware as to why.

So many senior players too busy counting their money and not caring about the club.

If only they were paid when they actually gave a toss.

Last week someone mentioned and complained some of the players were booed off.

Well another non effort like today and I for one would be leading the chorus.

It's official.

We stink.

Lindsay (a rare shining light) injured, and humiliated by a mid-tier team on our home deck in our ‘response’ game.

We’re an unskilled, uninspired rabble playing boring, lifeless footy.

Anyone have any positives to share ??

Yes, I held back my Demon membership this year because Badloss was still there - I really have had enough of him as coach, fooling around with the players' careers and not stepping up to meet the challenges ahead. Footy has changed and this change needs appreciation, and be positively addressed.

I was going to take the eldest to his first ever game at Metricon mid year but don’t think I want to subject him to this. Not a good way to keep the kids interested

things are dire. Things could go even further downhill very quickly

We were spoilt with our 10-0 starts - shocking demise

Bummers rubbing their hands together. Enjoy your top 5 pick.

Don’t forget we got Lindsay last year in trade for F1 this year. Yes it sounds bad if we do badly this year but this is a highly compromised draft with lots of academy and FS picks early and a much shallower pool for everyone else. It’s not like we gave it up for nothing. Lindsay looks great and let’s back him in.

Oliver 31 possesions 3rd highest in the game, don't blame him, still trying his guts out at the end! Anyone wanting him out, take a long hard look!

I remember clear as day the final round of 2021 when we were 40 odd points down. As soon as Geelong started chipping it around I knew we’d win it. Now apparently chipping it around the back half is the game plan of choice… Confusing.

Why would Trac even want to stay?

Majority of the team phoning in a performance in front of a ~20k crowd when he could be on the big stage.

Who could blame him.

Clearly gone at the end of the year. Hopefully he invests enough to give the club market value.

Bunch of mature players need to be left alone with their thoughts for the week to decide if they're serious or not and to remember who they are.

Far, far below the skill and energy they are well known to be capable of.

I'd be interested to know, in the wild politics of late last season, who got what they wanted which has now created this level of confusion and ambivalence on the field?

Hard to say, as wasn’t at the game (Queensland based), but Trac’s body language looked off all day, and seemed more so as the day went on?

Worried for next weekend … if we serve up similar to today, the Cats are a fair chance to break their 186 point winning margin.

The cats just love playing weak dispirited and fractured sides down there. They will be merciless. 186 is in play.

Can he be tanking to bring down his trade value as the Pies dont have anything to really offer us?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
