As a side issue: today marks Jack Crisp’s 238th consecutive game. He’s now only seven games away from breaking Jimmy’s record. Time’s running out. Records are made to be broken etc. but the thought of that grub being the one to take the mantle makes me sick.

Someone needs to take him out (make it look like an accident 🤭).

I've arranged it with the boys. Next week he goes down in the 'thoid'.

God knows how good the Giants are. But one game under the belt compared to our none is a big advantage. Also they have a bye straight afterwards so they can throw themslves around even further knowing they have a long recovery time. Geez, it'll be good if we beat them!

Media really do gargle the Pies something fierce. Just vomit inducing.

Apparently the Herald Sun sells way more copies if the Filth are mentioned on the front page

Him and Pendles looked absolutely cooked.

He wants the games record.

Good grief he'd have to play on into 2026 to get there!

*Why not play a full round and utilise the holiday Monday?  4 games is half-baked

Give the clubs/players another bye during the season (it's needed)

This is so grim for Collingwood, and I love it.

LLLLLURRVE THE SOUND OF THAT! They are soooooooo old that the club took out a bunch of pre paid funeral plans😙😇🤪🥳😎

I have been saying for some time that the Pies will fall off a cliff with their age structure, hopefully I will finally be right 😁

They only had a few flashes of the Collingwood of yesteryear and generally looked like a plodding lower mid table side and not a real contender.

Only Round 1 but good to see a heavy loss to kick the season off.

I took my son to Princes Park this morning for the open training session, watched the Pies in a 50+ point loss on TV this arvo and had a beer and a swim at the beach this evening. What an awesome day! (with a public holiday tomorrow) 😀

… and Storm enjoyed a thumping win; their 23rd consecutive first-round win. Incredible. 💜

Depends...

GWS are defensively sound and didn't let them play their game. They took it away from them.

How many other teams can do this?

That will decide the season of the pies this year to my mind.

They say when Collingwood is involved they sell more papers but that means more paper for the budgie cage bottom.

Yes the pies looked bad but the Giants looked absolutely elite. Finn Callaghan looks superhuman out there (cough cough ASADA cough cough).

Not dancing on Collingwood's grave until I see us against the orange tsunami next week.

Or if you live in the country, to use in the Thunder Box.

They should have beaten the Swannettes in the GF last Season

44 points up against The Bears and they relaxed 1%
If we can beat them next week it will be huge

We need to emphasise Speed and ball movement, constantly create options

That  is not our game plan LIve in hope

I’m surprised the GWS forwards were able to tie their bootlaces before the game.
Or maybe they’ve all got broken thumbs.

Nice to see the pies lose and most players cramping.

Let’s hope for a stinking hot day this weekend!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
