The full quote. The cynic in me sees this as a cash grab tbh. Has probably seen the offers for TDK and suddenly his 800k a year looks less and less appealing.

“Luke Jackson has told teammates at Melbourne he might be keen to get back there, but he's also told Freo that he isn't looking to leave. He's contracted until 2029 and I'd say that any move is unlikely"

This is the biggest load of click bait.

I think Jacko will only get better as he matures, but can we afford him?

I can’t see a way we could fit the kind of coin he is on into our cap , unless it’s heavily future loaded for when guys like Max and May retire

Hedging his bets.... smart

Before everyone cracks open the Moet, Twomey also said that Jackson has told Freo he’s perfectly happy there and that he thinks Jackson’s more likely to stay at Freo than leave.

The moment Fremantle signs anyone during trade period, the Curb Your Enthusiasm Music should play as a matter of course.

I've often wondered at the origins of that music. Thank you for setting me on the path to confirming it is 'Frolic', by Luciano Michelini, and aside from, apparently, an obscure bank commercial, it owes all it's public use to Larry David getting it stuck in his head.

I can see a future where Jackson rucks the forward half of the ground, Gawn rucks the back half, and they switch at the centre bounces as the tactical situation requires. Would cut Gawn's running load by about a third and let him do his terrific deter-intercept-spoil work behind the ball, helping our defence immensely.

Ah, it's all fun and games, of course.

Also, if Jackson is on ~$800k per year I would guess that is because his contract was heavily front ended, which would just add another hilarious spice to Fremantle's situation.

(For the record, the whole switch-back seems unlikely to me, but not zero chance)

I don’t think it’s likely that the trade happens BUT just remember Jackson was ‘happy’ at Melbourne too before requesting a trade, just as Kozzy is ‘happy’ at Melbourne despite his interest in going home

Two things can be true at once and it wouldn’t surprise me that if push comes to shove at the end of the season a trade is explored by both clubs

It’s the only way they’re getting Kozzy, just as it’s the only way we’d give him up (short of Freo miraculously conjuring up three quality first round picks)

AfL players talk with fork tongue.

I mean just look at how much better he looks in a wonderful jumper like ours...

Who wouldn't want to come back!

That’s what Dan Houston told Port last year…

The Door is definitely open for a good deal

must've grown, wiki says 200cm

All that Freo sunshine.

Jackson wouldn't be the first West Australian player to head home to Perth to then find out they actually miss life in Melbourne. One of the reasons Carlton were able to pick up Blake Acres from Freo.

If a Kozzy for Jackson swap was actually on the cards, I would go for it.

Freo obviously want to bring in Warner and Pickett so something has to give over there.

Trawled the internet for some opinions and Freo fans were not in favour of this as they

  • Rated LJ better than Kozzie
  • Worried about Darcy's body

If it was a straight swap we'd definitely need to do target someone for that small forward role as it's slowly been reduced over the years.

Wasn’t Acres essentially forced out of Saints in the first place for Hill? And then essentially forced out of Freo. They were offering him like 180k guaranteed or something crazy low like that.

Brad Hill went west and was back in Melbourne in a couple years though. Hogan and Lobb both ended up back east too.

It better be a good deal and hoping we hold our nerve.

Gut feel says this is his last year so we absolutely MUST get something super special in return.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
