But only 4 players could be interchanged at any one time.  So players in the 30 had to be subbed on or out of the game.

Ah ok didn't realise that

Same old story.  If we win it's good signs, if we lose, it's just a practice match

I reckon Kosi will be named. He'd love the opportunity to play in front of family members and against a number of his mates.

We don't play Freo away this year.

If he does play at least three quarters I'm tipping he'll bag at least 4 goals and be close to BOG (in a losing side).

Having said that, I don't think he should be named. We need to start with, as close as possible, our round one side.

BTW I'm tipping a GF between two of Freo, GWS and Lions.

What does this post even mean?

That said missing the first three rounds might mean they want to take the opportunity to get one more match load and fitness into koz.

Surely you would give him say 3 quarters,   and all the other best 22  if you can , only the abbreviated game time.

Do not want to go into game 1 underdone like last year when a fit and firing Sydney thumped us badly. That was extremely disappointing.

Thumped us badly is an ever so slight exaggeration of what occurred

I'd say he definitely reads all replies and reactions and is gagging for attention

Curious, how do you read a reaction?

And what happens if you accidentally see an emoji that has been added to one of your posts?

Once seen, never unseen?

Or do you try and convince yourself, Schulz stylee, that you saw 'nothink'?

This game is not just about fitness. it’s about having our best team play together to work on game plan etc

Kozzi will certainly play as we need him in the 20+ games he’ll play this year

He will have time to gel with new midfield and fwd teammates

I will not forget

🤪

Not sure what to do with Kos, we generally play 22 at a time and sub guys out rather than rotate extras.

Maybe one of Chandler, Sharp or Sparrow sit for the first half?

Of course that’s assuming Tracc, Viney and all other mid/forwards are right to go.

If there’s no Casey game this week I agree that taking Henderson to play a quarter is reasonable. Just get him that experience or travelling with an afl team and bonding time with team mates. Less important for Culley who’s been around the side all summer and on an afl list before.

I'm tempted to paste here a long article on the psychology of people who pretend never to read replies.

They won't.

This will be our full dress rehearsal and I presume we will ve playing our best available team.

We'll have an extended bench and will likely rest some guys at half time I would've thought.

100% Kozzie will play. Given he’s missing the first three games, any match fitness is very important.

Freo will be lucky to make the 8… they play a boring and one paced brand of football

We play them round 6. I reckon we'll be 3-2 (losses to GWS and Cats) and they'll be 5-0.

99.9% certain if he gets reported and suspended on Sunday, the suspension will take place from round 4 onwards.

In fact I'm 100% sure.

Then wrap the freo boys up in bubble wrap & LFG 🔥 🔥🔥

As well as a dress rehearsal for round 1, I hope the club also look at this game as a dress rehearsal on how we play the dockers next time when it counts.

Thats why I reckon Kossie has to play

I've got a similar prediction.

Same for the Dees (if we were to beat Freo in round 6 it could really open our season up as we have a winnable fortnight after that)

Freo will be 4-1 with a round 1 loss to Geelong at GMHBA.

It will be an absolute indictment on Longmuir if he can't get that talented list into the top 4. They want for absolutely nothing.

Agreed they have great individual talent, but are they a great team?

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
