It's a bit disappointing that our new recruits aren't wearing their numbers on their training tops. At least they weren't last Wednesday at Gosch's.

It's also disappointing that the new draftees don't have their photos on the MFC website against their jumper numbers.

Jumpers to be presented by … ???

some suggestions

Demon numbers:
Daniel Turner - 10. Angus Brayshaw.
Koltyn Tholstrup - 12 Todd Viney
Harvey Langford - 19 Ray Biffin
Xavier Lindsey - 20    Colin Garland
Tom Campbell - 29   Juice Newton
Harry Sharp - 30   ANB 🤣… Paul Hoppy Hopgood
Ricky Mentha Jnr - 39   Nev Jetta 🤞
Aidan Johnson - 42   Russell Robertson

I would have gone with Harvey Langford - (Darren Bennett) 19 Ray Biffin

Xavier Lindsey - 20 (Matthew Febey)   Colin Garland

really hope kolt dons a headband like todd for the ultimate mullet / headband combo

I did notice yesterday Vines is growing a rather Todd-like mullet himself, I think soon he’ll need the Todd headband! Complete the look of his old man :)

The headband is a good ideal, but it needs to be red not white.

It'll cover up the bleeding

I’m tipping that Jack Henderson gets #43 so he gets a locker next to his former Werribee teammate Aidan Johnson.

That could be a good get WJ.

34 of course remains waiting for next National Draft.

Has grown to match the metaphorical stature of Todd over the years, so might as well take on the look as well.  I'm not sure it will eventuate, but I'd love to see Jack captain the team in his own right for a season or two.

Yep I think he gets 43 for sure

Just goes to show that I get all my footy news from Demonland, not the MFC's own website.

But thanks for providing the link.

You don’t know what you are missing if you don’t read BOTH.

Is the setting aside of number 34 a gentle wink to supporters that Kalani has chosen the Dee’s? To be honest the GC will struggle to get him with their other academy picks looking more advanced. If he were to choose GC at this point I think we should hold a sit in at Jeff’s house.

At Gosch’s last week I asked Ricky M why he was wearing #34. He hadn’t realised he was wearing the wrong jumper and when he did all the boys laughed. Then young Woey asked me “who’s #34?” I said “Kalani White” and they loved it. 😁

Virtual certainty, I'd say. Only the months-long-foreshadowed-spoken-for #34 available earlier. A Werribee Pod is a bonus.

The only other thought (another nod to the Werribee alma mater):

#50?

I agree that jumper number #43 would be perfect for Jack Henderson.

Could even get Guy Rigoni (a former wearer of number #43) back down to the Melbourne Football Club to present Jack his jumper in his first AFL game!

He said in his interview on the club site that his locker’s next to AJ’s.

Tom Flower 26 games would luurve to present! As previous no 34!

On the Dees app, Henderson is listed as our number 43 👍🏼

He signed his first (fan’s) jumper today which belongs to a little buddy of mine. He put 43 next to his signature so I asked if it’s official. He said, “Yeah it is, it’s great coz I’m right next to Johnno.” And just like the eejit I am, I asked “Who’s Johnno?” 🤦‍♀️

Disco was wearing #31 today (Will V was wearing it for the first quarter like we weren’t confused enough already) and it reminded me that I’ve yet to see Disco in the #10 guernsey. At training he always wears a numberless guernsey and even Harves (Bison) and X have their numbers. Wondering if there’s a reason for it.

Don't tell me Harvey Langford or his teammates like the nickname "The Bison" or just "Bison"?

I actually suggested "The Bull" or "The Bison" as a nickname in another post a few days ago. Mainly because he seems strongly built and very determined.

Unfortunately, my nickname suggestions aren't as creative as Rex Hunt. But happy for "Bison" to catch on. 😎👍🏻

Oh make no mistake… Harvey LOVES the nickname Bison. I couldn’t remember who had suggested it (now I realise it was you) but at training yesterday I told him someone on Demonland suggested “Bull” or “Bison.” He scratched the bum-fluff on his chin, deep in thought then said, “Bison, huh? Yeah it’d be very cool to be called Bison.” Then this morning I saw him and said, “Good luck today, Harves!” He turned back and said, “Harves?” I said, “Soz. Good luck today, Bison!” The smile said it all.

edit: I’ve already told a few of the boys and so far they all agree that it’s a great nickname for him.

That’s what I thought it might be. It’s definitely different to every other assignment of numbers.

They might be planning something around it for round 1?

Hahahahaha! That's brilliant! 😁

"The Bison" is now official for Harvey Langford.

Thank you for that! Never given an AFL player their own nickname before.

I used to love "The Ox" David Schwarz though! I actually can't remember who gave him that nickname (maybe Garry Lyon?) but I do remember he apparently had a number plate on his car that said "The Ox" back in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Now we just gotta get BT and Bruce McAvaney to start calling Harvey Langford "The Bison" when they commentate on TV.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
