Good luck to Jack and nice to see someone who appears to be a hard worker get a shot at the big time

Personally I’m not sure what the strategy is here from a list perspective he is not a genuine small forward imo and is arguably too small to really make it as a midfielder at AFL level

I hope our list managers have chosen the right bloke as I think you could mount a pretty strong argument for a couple of others who are available atm

I think the thought is he can play that high pressure small forward role.

He played midfield at Werribee probably because at that level he is one of the better mids, however at AFL level I don't think that will be his go, other than some pinch hitting.

I don't have any inside info on what happened between him and the club in 2023, but I can't help but think we would have won the semi final against Collingwood if we had an in form Harmes as the substitute instead of Laurie to replace Brayshaw. Was he so checked out of the club that he wasn't a better option at the time? Maybe he was had injuries the club wasn't telling us about... I guess I'm still bitter about 2023. It will be the one we look back on as the one that got away.

.

I don’t think Harmes would’ve made a difference to the win/loss in the Pies final. We were 28 points down in the third quarter in slippery conditions and were always losing that final when they got off to a hot start.

i think he could’ve made a small difference in the Carlton final. 30 minutes of fresh legs coming on as the sub replacing T Mac, beats 0 minutes from Schache, which will go down as the worst MFC tactical move under Goodwin. I understand that he was coverage for Gawn but it simply didn’t pay off.

Sounds very similar to Shane Mannagh, who took a little while to settle into the puddy tatts in his first season in 2024 before being an integral part of the team by finals

That was a shocker.... Hollands cut us up with his run late

To say we were never winning that final is untrue. 2 straight kicks from Fritsch and McDonald and we win. Not to mention the countless blind kicks into F 50. We dominated them from that point on. I’ll agree with the Schache decision. I’ll also add that that was one of the most ill disciplined games I’ve seen from this team. It was a terrible night at the footy. Stuff of nightmares. For mine wins over Collingwood and Carlton are absolutely essential this season.

Good little connection is that Mark Williams coached Henderson in 2019.

Choco is the gift that keeps on giving.

Will be great for Hendo to have that connection already in place at the club, as well as AJ to help his development in taking the next step in his carer.

Still nothing official that I can see on either the MFC or AFL websites. However, this article on the AFL website is stating it as a fact.

Mind you, I only wanted to link to this story to make the point that it's no surprise that Sandy Brock has gone from the Gold Coast to West Coast. It seems his whole football career was pre-determined by the name he was given.

They've announced that McAdam is out for the season today, which would've been part of the requirement to open a spot for Henderson.

I imagine it will be announced by the club later today once paperwork is lodged.

MFC journo's are asleep on the wheel..

Obviously Melb are waiting for the official paper work to go through. That’s my point they dont engage  in fantasy fiction or histrionics like D/L.

Some of you really don’t understand difference between John Ralph and MFC or a D/Ler posting a topic.

I am sure some do but their bias or logic goes haywire or on fire depending upon the topic,

Its great when D/L predict what’s going to happen and is is a forum for great gloating while the website reports it calmly and methodically.

What happens dont some of you miss the Coaches and other interviews? Or don’t you recognise it or spy and forget.

Calmly and methodically??? Like not notifying supporters of a change in start time of a preseason game even days after the time had changed. The website’s long been a joke.

We lost by 7 points in the end. Laurie playing nearly 3 full quarters had 1 kick, 4  handballs, 1 clanger and 2 tackles.

There were so many little things that could have happened for us to win that game and our path could have been very different.

This isnt me bagging Laurie. It was the selection decision. Laurie had only played a few games that year and had no consistency.

All spilt milk in the end.

100% agree on the Carlton game.

Super happy we got Henderson. He looks a similar player to Chandler based on highlights. Hoping he gets a crack early.

MFC socials confirming McAdam being moved to the inactive list this morning

Poor Shane, but hopefully official confirmation of Henderson joining later today

MFC website has McAdam as a Medium forward, the injury announcement has him as a small forward, he's shrinking as well poor guy.

Timing is everything and worked out in Henderson's favour.

Happy to have him on board - especially as we considered him in the draft.

Tbf DD Tom may have already signed up given he was playing with them already and perhaps we haven’t lodged paperwork with the AFL yet. The only announcement has been tweets from journos which was then put into an article, not an offical statement.

Small forward/mid with good goal sense, smarts and tackling.

Lacks stand out attributes to be a big difference maker but can come in and do a role from day 1 if he’s had a good summer VFL training at a high enough level.

With Pickett’s suspension, Spargo still injured and Kolt injured there’s going to be opportunity.

Liking the cut of this boys jib exactly the type we needed.

👌👌👌👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏

Let's hope Jack Henderson can make the grade.

I don't think we've had much luck in "top up" and mid season draft type players. I don't recall many successes.

At Essendon they’ve had an open list spot, it’s a player who’s been training with them for weeks and kicked 4 on the weekend which was probably when they made the decision and started to get the contract ready.

At Melbourne we are confirming McAdam is out for the year and placed on the Inactive List (ticked off by AFL head office), giving him due credit with an injury update, whilst flying Henderson back from Perth, hopefully doing a brief update on basic medical screening and getting the contract ironed out. If we’re smart we might even line up a bit of actual content - have AJ give him a lift from the airport or to training - for the announcement.

I suspect it’s mostly about letting the McAdam story be sorted before we fill his list spot and that’s what a club that cares for their players does.

This has nothing to do with the clubs otherwise too often poor communication.

The Ox certainly loves Culley. If he is as good as he says surely another club will grab him

How long is Kenty out for?

What is the length of time one has to be injured for before a replacement can registered?

Half a season/ Full season?

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
