Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford and Lindsay. All good users of the footy and competitive yet compliment each other well with their individual traits. Our future midfield is taking shape.

Whether we've consciously done it or it's simply been how the cookie has crumbled, we've been able to take 4 very differently styled (and versatile) mids

 

I would have hoped that we'd see an interview with JT up tonight on the MFC website...

What an absolute CRACKING outcome! Barring a left field result I think this is absolutely too-shelf best result we could ask the left-footers that OOZE class , loose and domination! Cloud #9 RN was so so glad we took Lindsay — right call & more I watch him the more he looks like a Butters/Gulden/Windsor hybrid.. Could be a momentous night in our clubs history — but even if it’s. It, it’s exciting times when you consider young talent now at our disposal!

Our best 22 next season might include pick 2 (tracc), pick 4 (oliver), pick 5 (langford), pick 7 (windsor), pick 9 (salem), pick 9 (melk), pick 11 (Francis), pick 12 (kozzie), pick 13 (Kolt), pick 15 (Jefferson) and pick 19 (JVR).

Our best 22 with six top 10 picks and 10 top 20 picks.

And that doesn’t include the winner and runner up in last year's bluey.

Not bad.

Pretty wrapped about the drafting. It’s going to be tough when Tasmania impacts the draft and feel like we’ve secured our midfield.

 

Deal of the year has to be Richmond getting North’s future first for pick 27 and future second. Big gamble from North and you’d be pretty [censored] off if you were the AFL and they struggled again next year.

Big picture:  North offered future 1st to every club bidding after #9 so clearly wanted a key fwd and probably rated Whitlock much higher than #27.   After all there were a few 'bolters' last night.  Given their list they could afford to go for 'needs'.

They received Rich future 2nd back- probably 19 or 20 both will be premium picks as they will be first up at the start of night 2.

North have given up pick 4-6 for 19-20 and a key player; one who probably would usually be taken higher except there were many exceptional midfielders at the pointy end. 

Looks fine to me; not fantastic but an important deal for them.

It doesn't make sense to me. Port give away pick 45 for nothing unless they knew west coast were going to take Berry which seemed unlikely with Bo Allan on the board.

@Nascent gave a very good explanation of this strategy re Essendon trading similarly with Geelong last year to get Caddy.

Some other team was probably pitching a deal to WC for the pick to take Berry and Port needed to beat them to it.

Well done to JT and the gang, I'm really happy with the result.

Wasn't sure when it came to pick 11 but there was a gut feeling it could be XL once things played out that way. I'm not totally convinced that it would have been Tauru had he been available, it may have been, but I'm just really glad we went bold and addressed a need instead of going KPP in someone like Armstrong or Murphy Reid who I honestly wouldn't have minded but could have been another Bailey Laurie kind of pick. 

Bring on 2025, I think there's a bit there to work with.

FLEXIBILITY

 

Very good blend ... some intensive training to come, some body development, some experience of the level and speed required, some improved teamwork from the regulars ... all seems like a strengthening of the team, to me.

Rivers, Tracca, Clarry, Viney to boot. Perhaps, a chastened, improved Sparrow, as well. Something smells frigging awesome.
