Well at least he talks like he knows what he's talking about.

Question: Is Pert still working on Caulfield and if not does anybody know who's handling it at club level until September?

    Wow starting in September after the season is finished why??? Key decisions need to be made around the footy dept & our pipe dream of Caulfield! Why is everything our club does such a messy approach

    It is my understanding that Pert is in a consultant position ongoingly for the Caulfield deal

    Paul will take over from the interim CEO in September

    Hopefully he puts tariffs on Collingwood.

    In all seriousness in my limited dealings with him he wont rub sponsors and stakeholders the wrong way like our previous CEO.

    He has good business acumen and is a thoughtful businessman with strong connections and a brilliant networking ability.

    I didn't see this appointment coming but can see the upside.

    As for potentially not stating until September because of current commitments I see that as a positive. Loyalty is rare these days and it seems he doesn't want to just jump ship and leave the chamber in the lurch until he has followed through with his commitments.

    His position on the Victorian Racing board is intriguing with Caulfield on our agenda.

    Time will tell but I think this could be a brilliant left field decision

    I must have gone through a different education than the media.

    Our CEO won’t start until early September it has been reported and the media say that is 6 months away.

    I make it 4 months.

    The issue is that they only started interviewing him a month ago. He was able to get Melbourne to host the ‘world chambers congress’ in September. Presumably this is a fairly big part of his current role and he wants to see this out

    Agree a bit left field, but I like that.

    He’ll be keen to learn and establish himself in the footy industry, so motivation won’t be an issue. He’ll look to prove himself worthy, as opposed to a former CEO knowing they’ve been here before.

    A breath of fresh air, with his own outside the box ideas, away from the insular environment that is the AFL business.

    That interview impressed me a lot. Really well spoken, natural speaker, great to listen to. Cant wait to see what he does.

    I’ve a similar background (elec engineer and telco) and career to him so now I’m wondering … CEO MFC. Must consult my palm reader. 😂😂

    We have a problem though, their is a rat on our board that keeps leaking to the media.

    Paul's appointment was leaked to Caro before he even knew, this rat needs to baited and caught then thrown in the trash where they belong.

    Not good for business at all.

    Laughed at that, opening line by interviewer on the lines of “you were a late contender”.

    Was a nice drive by 😂 by way of pointing out he was certainly not their first choice.

    Good luck to him! Hopefully he’s a great new addition and can bring some well required good change to the club.

    I believe it’s a good idea to have fresh eyes and a different perspective, surely it helps!

    Having watched the 2 Interviews on YouTube, Paul sounds like a breath of fresh air, lot of enthusiasm

    Could be a great appointment, let’s see how it pans out…

    To everyone questioning the start date, I think it should be seen as a positive.

    Do we want to be employing a CEO who can just jump straight into this type of role? That would mean he is either currently unemployed, or is in a lower role and doesn't have a long exit time required.

    I imagine with his current employment contract as CEO there is an extended timeframe that he must give when resigning from his CEO position. This is fairly standard for that type of role, given it is highly specialised and important to an organisation, so as to give them time to plan for his exit.

      Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

      It’s game day and the Demons are chasing a fourth straight win as we take on the high flying Hawks at the G. After decades of being tormented by the Hawks the Dees will be keen to extend their 7 year dominance over Hawthorn.

    • NON-MFC: Round 09

      Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos.
