First I have heard this… 

Yes I saw that on the news, will be interesting to see the make up of our Leadership Group next year.

Putting 2 + 2 together it appears to me the club review uncovered that they need to relax and have more fun in their approach to footy.  That was Hawthorn last year and it sounds like Goody was told to lighten up. 

Maybe we should get Fev & Capper down to the club on a consulting basis?

Makes sense.

Lost a real leader with Hunter's retirement.

Most interesting bit of that to me was the reference to Pert gone and clean slate that brings.
 

Interesting to hear the captain mention the effect of a boardroom change.
 

I am thinking the leaders in the footy department are much happier with the recent changes.

Max, Viney and Lever are pretty bloody good leaders I would have thought. 

And if there was a void under the 5 year skipper, there is a void under the skipper. Apparently we have leaders in the Gen Z.

You’d imagine the review was critical of our very small 2 man leadership, and the need to unearth some new leaders in an official capacity.

Good leaders but no nonsense, very driven types, maybe no room for humour, for enjoying the game, is that the identified area of improvement? Only guessing but lightening up, having a joke, enjoying the experience have been features of Richmond’s premiership sides and last year, McCrea played the nice guy, “let’s have fun” coach and certainly Darsknee Moore captained with a smile on his face, at least in the race before the game. Certainly leadership styles can foster an environment that encourages risk taking and tolerates failure vs an environment that punishes failure, that discourages risk taking and rewards conservative play.

fyi we once let our junior managers plan an offsite.  Whilst it was on the business plan for the event, they forgot about the catering (drinks list only) and the bus transport was for arranged for one bus to transport 85 staff.  At least we got the lunchtime fire pit experience (which is in vogue) where he all got smoked out and returned home full of smoke like being on a 1976 plane flight.  

As long as you don’t try to “pivot to lean in to future strategic initiatives to expand our footprint” 🤮

Losing Gus and Nibbler was a huge blow to the leadership stocks.

It's an interesting one because we have a real gap in the player age spread from Oliver (now 27), with only seven players age 23 to 26.

We're going to need at least some of them to develop into quality leaders ready for the 2028 premiership.

2028 is shaping up to be a cracker 🤪

rivers, mcvee, and probably sparrow are the youngsters who seem to be looked on as the next generation of leadership

I do actually think leadership on the park has been an issue of late, mainly that it's probably been the same voices for too long and it's become a little stale. That doesn't been we throw it all out and make Rivers captain with Koz as the vice, but looking to freshen things up is a very good thing and I'm glad that this review is creating a shift in thinking. Hearing Max say "we aren't the 2021 demons" to me says that we have been holding onto what we were instead of looking to be what we can/want to be.

This club is built around Max. As good as he is there's an argument to say we are too Max focused at times and its hurt us.

he is also 33 yo in Dec so we need a plan B

Gus was initially part of this in some respect but came out after the first game and said he couldn't handle the emotions etc of not being able to be out there and felt it was best for himself to step away and focus on non footy stuff for a bit. Hopefully back at some point though.

Not trying to tell people how to live,  but if you fall off a bicycle or a horse  then the advice is often to get back on Or at least try and hug the horse or get a trike or something.  It could be a real win for MFC and a win for Gus.  Whatever Gus wants in the first instance,
