And I hate to admit but maynard was clearly shepherded under the ball and should have received a match saving free. Pert as ceo at the time

Yes to free but nope to Pert being CEO at the time.  Pert went mid 2017.  Which was really annoying because the Pies improved immediately and cost us a finals spot in 2017.

Can we be clear about the Caulfield development!

All that has happened is a feasibility study... yes it's a step in the right direction but some people on here think it's a done deal.

Does the successful Feasibility Study mean the project will be built?
No, it does not. While the success of the feasibility study does not ensure the future of the project, it is a crucial milestone in the process and marks a significant step forward in the club’s journey towards realising its vision of a high-performance facility that makes us all feel proud to belong.

I'd say there's a good chance there'll be another letter to Members from Brad on this one, possibly with the Jones acquisition, too.

(Sorry, just had to!😁)

Absolutely my take on it also. Never saw it as offensive or antagonistic. I can't believe the mods would have done this themselves, surely?  That would be 🤪   I would understand if the vomit emoji was removed, but not the thinking one.

Chairperson and CEO both gone within a month. Both left under a cloud.

Not great by any score

You could feel it coming from the moment he reportedly shopped Oliver around.

Anyway we move forward but hell we are great at turning what should be a glory period for the club into a shambles

Can you show where he shopped Oliver around behind the football departments back please interested to read it.

Saty

sometimes you need to read between the lines but this time the lines are as wide as broad gauge railway lines.

Anyway as I said let's see what the future brings

What lines, supposition, guess work, probability, rumour?

Can I say I impressed we have another letter to the supporters from Green.... More communication from this interim president than the entire tenure of Roffey...

So, what was there to communicate about?

We were informed about the court cases.

Some on here are seriously sad.

It is better to not to give oxygen to media stories.

Brad Green is communicating to clear the air from all the rubbish that has been floating around.

Whether he was pushed or left of his own accord doesn't matter

All i'm interested in is who our next CEO will be. I imagine Steven Smith will be heavily involved in the recruitment given he'll inherent him/her as president soon enough

Try again, can you show the article where Pert shopped Oliver around behind the football departments back?

My understanding is that it was not behind the FD back and Diamond Jim is not asserting that In his post.

Well, I liked Perty and I'm sorry to see him go. Prepared to accept that it's the right time, of course, as I genuinely know nothing of what has been going on and it may indeed be for the best. Regardless, I look to the future with trepidation, understanding there's no guarantee that a replacement will do a better job...

Careful what you wish for...

President Roffey: gone.

CEO Pert: gone.

Petracca and Oliver: unhappy last season and clearly open at one stage to the chance of leaving.

Dan Houston: club culture blamed in backflip on move to Demons.

Joel Smith: gone, but the mysterious investigation lingers on.

Caulfield project: minimal progress, with funding looming as a major problem even if feasibility study is favourable.

Premiership window: still ajar, but once Gawn, Viney and May have all retired, a rebuild may be needed, especially if Petracca and Oliver depart as well.

None of us outsiders know the full details in the issues listed above, but to deny that our club has serious unresolved issues is to put one's head in the sand. Pert's departure just confirms that.

The online edition of the Herald Sun is carrying an article by Mark Robinson in which Gary Pert explains that controversial comment about the club’s culture ~

"My point, that was taken out of context - I was saying we are dealing with player behaviour issues and I don't want the entire club being tarnished by that," he said.

"When I made the comment, we had won more games of footy in the past three years than any other team (in the league) and had recently won a premiership, and that we were doing a lot of great things. I was saying, the player behaviour issues had to be dealt with in that regard and not discredit the Max Gawns, Jack Vineys and Kate Hores ... I didn't want the whole football club being tarnished by a couple of people."

In what was a complex situation, Melbourne had to carry the can for its players being in the controversial and secretive AFL drugs program, which meant the club wasn't fully across all the information - and still isn't. It's frustrating, but it's reality.

"I did take offence, and maybe got a bit emotional, but I did take offence to a couple of players' behaviour tarnishing what I think is a club full of magnificent people," Pert said.

I’m sure this won’t satisfy everyone but it’s logical and consistent with the views expressed to me in recent months by some of the senior group of players.

Even Robbo in the HUN today concedes that those in charge couldn’t be blamed for all the issues, and nor for the team going bang-bang in two consecutive finals series post the 2021 premiership although it became increasingly obvious the fans were on war footing. I’m in no doubt that every club has issues and many worse (hello Essendon, hello Richmond). Maybe, our fans are just hard to please.
