Can't wait to hear what Nathan Carrol has been up to

God i miss Nathan Carrol

I assume this is Nathan Jones? that leaves us with one more vacancy doesn't it? assuming no significant re-structuring as a result of the reviews i'd guess that would be Bassett?

The gossip I heard was the midfield role would now be split, compared to what it has been - So Jones would be midfield coach possibly, but we'd bring in another person solely for strategy. Then we would also need a forwards coach I'm guessing, so I think we'd likely need 2 more after Jones. I believe the thinking was the coaching department needed more of a spread like that - It could explain partly why we've gone for Jones in terms of how much you'd expect him to cost given his experience in relation to the soft cap. This isn't from the club directly though so take it with a grain of salt.

The game day strategy coach role isn't new in terms of the MFC, that's effectively what Yze and McQualter have done, but they've also taken on the mids and perhaps they feel that's too big a role for one person? that would seem to make sense. My concern is when you're looking at bringing in 2-3 people into the FD we're a little bit late and a lot of the highly credentialed assistants have proabably already worked out what they're doing

Wow, comedy central, it will be Jones, Brayshaw finds it too mentally challenging to be involved with the club.

I tried Nev, still has a year to go at the Pies, intend trying again next year.

Do you hold an official role within the club now?

I have it on excellent authority that the club will soon announce the return of a recently-retired favourite son in a coaching / off-field capacity.

Nev jetta?

No, still communicate with Nev occasionally, tried but failed to convince him though.

And the comment about Gus is what a couple of Club people have told me.....unless of course he would use it to help.....his speech at the B&F was raw

Convince him of what?

I'm confused what you are talking to Nev about.

Talking to Nev about coming back to Melbourne in  some capacity no doubt coaching. That’s what the topic/ conversation is all about.

I must have missed the news of the club offering Nev a job.

Interesting.

Welcome back David Mc Glashan, who Jack Dyer once said was a General forward talent!!

He’d be very handy as a goal kicking coach. Was a magnificent kick….

As much as I love Jonesy I would have thought Daisy Peirce would be a great asset in the coaches box.

Depends on the role that the club has in mind for Nathan, maybe Daisy more for strategy/ game plan but isn’t she contracted to Weagles?

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
