Starting to think we might call out his name at pick 5. If there’s two things JT loves in a draft pick it’s a competitive streak and a lot of upside. Tauru and Lalor offer the best combo of both at the top end of the draft. Lalor will probably be gone.
We seem to be linked with Allen at pick 9 which has me thinking we go for Tauru at 5. We still get our mid bull at 9.

We don’t need a bull we need a classy outside running mid who has good disposal kicks goals and runs endlessly. If he is big like Langford so be it. But there is enough for us at 9 in the mids available to get a class midfielder.

Very hard to place where he will go.

Both he and Armstrong have come from nowhere to be in the top 15 of most phantom drafts. Tauru looks to be the better footballer of the two to me, he attacks the ball so well, but looks better as a defender than a forward.

I'm Tipping that Richmond will take him with one of there top 10 picks or that North will split pick 2 to go back in the draft a bit to pick him or Armstrong up. There is every possibility that they pick either Armstrong or Tauru with pick 2.

If he was there at pick 9 then we would have to consider him heavily.

Get him at 5 and a quality mid still at 9. Both bases covered.

Not all his marks are intercepts, can take a big pack mark.
Will be a gun would to grab him at 5, can’t see him being there at 9.

Agree agree agree get him

Wow. One grabber that is for sure. Hands just look awesome. He can just float at times. Check out that mark at the 2min mark. He slides out of the drop zone to jump back at it. Looks special to me.

If Lalor, FoS, Draper are gone I’d take him at #5 and play him forward. Take Joe Berry at #9 for run and carry.

I think he could be our version of a taller Heeney or Jordan Dawson

He could play most positions other than ruck and I seriously hope JT has a target on his back

I think you can make a case we need both an inside and outside mids. Viney is wrong side of 30, Trac and Clarry both had injury and fitness issues and both wanted out this year. Sparrow hasn’t  come on as we would have hoped.

For those who have watched him closely, does he have scope to move into midfield? Seems to have good athleticism and I'm wondering if he could be something in the Pavlich mold.

Yes but part of our problem is we are full of bulls and sort of one paced unless cameos from Kossie are increased. Riv is a bit of both and if Windsor is moved to the centre like I advocate plus a classy on baller with pace and outside run that should alter our mix.

Remember all our tough bulls will get the ball out to these runners and more skilled players in many occasions.

Tauru or Armstrong either looks a great prospect and not to bolster our forward marking setup with such quality, this ONE player could completely transform our on ball and forward lines work in one go.

Let’s see what we get with 5 and 9 either JT again ready to deliver some candy on this occasion.

Tauru is almost a bull.

I’ve only watched one full game and some highlights but I think he could - I really think he could be like Bont or Dawson (tall mids) that are good overhead and can hit the scoreboard

He's at his best as an intercept defender floating into packs with his huge leap. He won't be able to do that unimpeded at AFL level, so queries around how solid the rest of his game is. He's not the best with ball in hand, and is undersized for KPP if he doesn't keep growing. He's unproven in midfield and don't think he's quick enough mentally to be a big bodied midfielder around stoppages long term.

I see why he's being hyped up as his athletic profile is great. He'd be a good target at 9 if he's there to develop as the Lever replacement long term.

What if he can jump 10cm higher than everyone else. Hes 193 the same height as May and 4cm shorter the Petty. That's about 2 flingers width. Hes also 4cm taller than Sicily which is a good player comparison too, minus the kick.

I think im a yes at pick 5. basically has only played the second half of this season from the past 2 years.  November born so young.

van Rooyen marks on the lead and the crowd scream "Rooooooooo!!!"

Tauru marks on the lead and the crowd scream "Ruuuuuuuu!"

Trade Gruzewski in from GWS next year and then we can all scream  "Gruuuuuuuu!"

Any interest in Tauru or is a gun midfielder much more of a priority?

(Our interest might be irrelevant anyway with North maybe doing a trade with the Crows to slide down to pick 4 to get him)

Find it hard to believe this guy hasn't been talked about more often at our 5 or 9. Will definitely be top 10.

Alix Tauru

Interesting clip and profiling ... for his size, seems very competitive in the air, a good feeder and what appears to be a reliable kick. Flashback: ... Geez, he reminds me (movement, courage, focus) of Rodney the Grinter playing in the Dees' Reserves quite a few years back ... stand-out 'go-er' who developed into a powerhouse footballing icon.

Reminds me more of Clint Bizzell. Athletic. Good mark. Ok skills. Can play defence or forward as well. He was good.  But he’s not what the Dees want with pick 5. We need an elite A grade future midfielder.   Tauru at 9 maybe if he’s available although unlikely!!!

Mids, mids, mids

Just had an image of Tauru and Van Rooyen owning the forward line and causing absolute chaos.. Although I'd prefer we don't go him at 5, maybe it'll all work out in the end?.. Love to have him, if only we had another pick in the 10 :-P

@Bombay Airconditioning

Tauru has real AFL quality.  👏👏👏

Like his reading of the play and footy IQ.  Athletic ability would enable him to step up with a solid preseason or two.  Definitely in the mix for JT.

A little upper-body development would be nice; however, that will no doubt occur in time. A real contender for the Dees, promoting a powerhouse forward line, perhaps reinforcing existing forwards as they continue to improve and develop - a team alignment that we have been slobbering for across several seasons.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
