Nice problem to have ๐Ÿ˜‚ I would do itย

Genuine 50/50 game imoย

It would be the smart play.

The lions are currently 2.12, which I reckon is about right.

The disadvantage the lions face is the extra game the've had to play, well that and losing their ruck.

But they have run out the last two games very impressively.

And their strategy to chip kick the cats to frustration, whilst helped by the cats clearly flagging, could not have been possible if they weren't well and truly in great condition.

They have clearly timed their high performance program very well.

As much as I would enjoy seeing the Lions prevail, I think they may run out of puff in the Gf.

Sure they will get an extra burst of adrenaline by sheer virtue they are playing for a cup but ultimately I feel the Swans will have fresher legs.

It seems to me the lions have been playing out of their skins in several close and exhausting finals. They have traveled more too.

Most likely all of this will have taken a toll in terms of energy and injuries and will ultimately be the difference.

ย

I don't mind Fagan and he deserves some redemption but seeing Zorko holding the cup up would make me physically ill

ย

Go Swans

My wife and I booked a couples massage at 3pm this Saturday.

If the Dees arenโ€™t playing, I take the long weekend and relax. Donโ€™t care who wins.

Bring on the Draft!!!!

It's my first year as a MCC Full member, was not a part of the GF ballot.

Any idea what time someone would need to rock up to get a seat for a Sydney v Brisbane final?

around 7-7:30 am is my guess. Gates open at 8am. You enter get your seat and will be given a reserved ticket for that seat. You then disappear and return around 1pm or thereabouts. Brunch places will be doing a roaring trade.

You could take a punt on later but it's up to you. There are only 7k unreserved seats

My band is playing in Canberra on the afternoon of GF Saturday from 3pm, so Iโ€™m going to miss watching it.

The challenge for us is to avoid any contact with people who might be following it during our performance, so that we can all watch it later on in the evening (our pedal steel player lives close by in Sutton and has Kayo), as if it hadnโ€™t already happened.

Fortunately the venue, Smithโ€™s Alternative, has no TV screens on the premises.

(how to advertise your gig, without advertising your gig)

Are you going to knock out a Katy Perry cover @hardtack ๐Ÿ˜

Stupid Hypothetical: we don't pick up Fullarton. Does he get a run in the GF for Brissy?

Sounds amusing until I recall that the Big O was injured for the 2022 SF and Brisbane beat us with Fort and Fullarton.

Good luck hope you clean up !

My care factor in this game is next to zero but if pushed Iโ€™d probably lean towards the swans because my neighbours wonโ€™t have to walk around like bags of misery for weeksย

I may just tune in to see how condescending and divisive the welcome to country is and then head out and go for a swimย

There was a ballot which allocated 14,500 reserved seats

Total Number of Unrestricted MCC members is now around 41k with a further 20k unrestricted who aren't eligible for the GF

8.5K unreserved is final number including standing room.

You could rock up at 12 and get a seat this year in the members, restricted will get the email at 11am again saying there is plenty space on level 4 and can buy a ticket for $200 (has been the case in 2022 and 2023 with Victorian teams playing).

40 year MCC member here Roy11.ย

At 7.00am the queue will be at the Pullman.ย  DON'T DO IT,ย  ย or you'll be stuck with back rows of Level 4 if your lucky

(the front rows of Level 4 this year are reserved.

As an experienced queuer, 4.00am will guarantee you a good choice. There are only 9000 seats available.ย ย

Take a folding chair- everyone does - leave it behind against a tree when the queue movement starts usually around 7.30 to get everyone ready for opening at 8. Get your seat and your chair, along with 5000 others will still be there in Yarra PArk, then wander home.ย  4.00am will ensure you get Level 3 in front of Grey Smith bar - best seats IMO, and probably Level 2 balcony if you prefer.ย  Definitely Level 1.

But get your plan/strategy ready and don't prevaricate or you'll be elbowed aside in the charge. .ย

Good luck and have a ball.ย  Also they open Hugh Trumble cafe overnight so you can grab a coffee there or other spots to kil the time.

You'll be surprised how quickly 8.00am comes around.

Thanks for this.

I'm interested in attending my first AFL grand final, but 4am is a bit of a daunting! I do love me some Level 3 FGS seats though.ย

I know both teams are technically "interstate" but have their origins here and do recall the MCC having decent number of Lions and Swans fans when we've played them recently.ย

The Swans have huge latent interest in Melb and all GF's they have been in since 2005 , whether against Vic or interstate teams have had 98K plus. One year they had 100K.

It all depends where you really want to sit I guess.

When the mighty Dees are in finals in 22 and 23 I queued from noon for 5.00pm opening. But that's me.

It's a win win. We either get to see Papley or Zorko collect a runners up medal.ย

17 hours ago, whatwhat say what said:

It absolutely is not

While Souths moved to Sydney, Brisbane absorbed the bones of the Lions into the Bears - they have NOTHING to do with Fitzroy

It was a complete corporate takeover, not a mergerย

Why the BB FFC on the back of Lions Jumper then? And SMFC on the back of Sydney's jumper? Not to mention the same colours and nicknames. The connection lives on.

Any other AFL and MCC members around here that have secured a seat for the big one?

Will be a belter of a game to attend.

Definitely BBP. I've never been to a GF before but I'm wondering if this is a good chance to be a first.

Restricted MCC membership though so not sure how good my chances actually are, I do remember in 2022 they released some last minute tix for restricted members on the Sat morning.ย

ย

AFL Members are sold out so it's looking like a sellout all round.

In reality there aren't that many seats available having regard to the popularity of the event itself.

Surprised that the MCC has not gone full ballot but I suspect it will come. I prefer the ballot to the online ticketmaster rush that AFL members have.

Yep in P26, not entirely sure why I'm going.
