We had some good conversations with him but he’s told us that he’s happy in Perth and will be re-signing with Freo.

I think Id almost prefer Serong!!

2026 and 2027 future 1sts, thanks - teams can trade two years in advance as of the end of this year, i believe, and while i don't think he'll be leaving to flagmantle at the end of the season, that'd be my opening requirement

at a minimum

i don't think it's too surprising that he might want to do this, but there's a lot of obstacles in the way to make it happen

One of them obstacles for Freo being that he's still contracted until 2027 which takes him to Free agency.

If he wants to leave at the end of this year then Freo are going to have to stump up alot!

Great headline.

"Fremantle's hopes of landing homesick Melbourne star reportedly increasing"

My hopes of winning tattslotto are also increasing as time goes by. This does not increase likelihood.

Reportedly meaning, according to report or rumour.

Rumour!

So journalism has come to its Wednesday, haven't made up a Melbourne story for a while, what did I say last year, aha, just add hopes increasing. Voila!

In terms of trade value, and assuming Kozzie doesn't have an amazing All Australian year, you couldn't expect more that what they paid for Shai Bolton. Essentially 10 and 18 to Richmond with a few things going back to Freo (11 also went to Richmond but they gave 14 back to Freo)

Bolton has an All Australian under his belt.

I also noticed we play Collingwood in round 24. If he's out the door (and we're out of business) then I hope he's not on his best behaviour that night.

Football is a business. Let's try to win another flag or 2 before he leaves

That's the attitude. Let's enjoy what we have while we have it and be successful.

Koz already familiarising with his new teammates ...? 😁

We will only get two first rounders. being in the teens given how Freo should go.

Not enough for him but a lot better than Free Agency comp in ‘27

Depends what having him for 3 more years is worth, besides we could always demand a player back doesn’t have to be picks, on top of that if it’s just go home then why not wc

We'll get a couple firsts for him, potentially very late ones which isn't ideal though given they'll get pushed out further by bidding and the like

We'll have a stack of cash for free agents this year is a silver lining I guess

I don’t really understand why this is being reported now.

However, it’s not entirely surprising, although every time it comes up there is a report about how much he loves living in Melbourne.

I suppose the best we can do is have a great year (off-field more than on-field tbh) so that he feels like he wants to stay.

...a lot of water to go under the bridge here I would think.

A contracted player.

Will have 2 premierships at the end of season so the price would be high if he were to be leaving.

These latest media posts smell of the Pickett camp conditioning the club and fans to do a deal at the end of this year.

Would really hate to lose him. But these stories just won’t go away.
At least if he is to go we are in a very strong position to get a good deal. It is just another reason why we need to have a really good year this coming season.
We need to replace him with a quality established player rather than going to the draft again, a good season will help us attract quality players.
It doesn’t have to be a Freo player either given our strong contract position.

I'm not sure I'd want Freo's picks in draft years that are compromised by the entry of Tasmania into the competition.

Ask them for Josh Treacy or Jye Amiss to our address our forward line.

If they can’t come to the party then he can honour his contract here.

If he’s so home sick, as was reported in 2023, I have no idea why he’d sign a 4 year extension that year. Sounds as though he’d like to move to WA rather than needing to go.

At least I won’t be upset when he is going for ‘mark of the year’ at every contest in Freo colours.

(when he should be under the pack like Aaron Davey using his speed and evasive skills)
