I get more of the Luke Hodge vibe about Langford. The Most impressive first handful of games for us since Oliver. Lindsay looks like a really good player too.

I am glad Houston backed out on us. We will get years of value from these two. Houston is quality but 5-6 years of Houston v 10 years plus of Langford and Lindsay is a no brainer. I am presuming that the picks we were going to use on Houston were the ones that ended up being these boys.

This kid will be the best player in the competition in 2 years.

Better than Nick Daicos in two years?

We backed out of Houston. We didn't want to pay a top 5 pick for him when we realised it was going to land top 5.

Fair enough, that makes sense. Once again our ability or more to the point, inability, catches us by surpise.

Nick Daicos is the most overated outside player in the competition,of his 35 possesions 27 were UNCONTESTED! GUY IS A MASSIVE FRAUD! Never ever goes when its his turn and struggles to lay a tackle. Has hardly or never taken a contested mark in his career! FAIRY FLOSS

We only have to finish 12th or better to make the Lindsay pick perfectly justified. He's easily top 6 in this years draft plus he'll have a year under his belt. We're massive winners.

it's getting to 12th or higher that's going to the struggle

Not if we can sustain the effort of Saturday.

Totally agree P, looked like he was coaching from the bench in his game, little squirter.

I'm not sure if it's the running style and left side dominance but to me he appears to be a 2020's version of Wayne Johnston from Carlton. Johnston played in a more violent era and didn't mind the physical side of the game, but he was a very skilled ball user who didn't appear overly quick but was always a step ahead. He was also one of the best big game players of all time. Langford knows where it's going and how to get it. He's also excellent at using it.

Wasn’t the dominator either zoned to or trained with us and we overlooked him

I reckon you're right, Pennant

The Dominator played for Prahran which was in our zone I believe. Sheedy was another who played for Prahran and we might have knocked him back?

Later on, we knocked him back as a potential coach?

I was so happy and relieved that we were lucky enough to pick up Harvey “The Bison” Langford in the draft along with Xavier “Spreadsheet” Lindsay. I felt that Langford was top 3 material and SONS had mentioned both boys a number of times during Coates League games, they are mature beyond their years and yesterday was Harvey’s day to .😁👍

I haven’t searched to see if this has been discussed at all, but is the ‘Bison’ nickname derived from his hair, that somewhat resembles that of a buffalo?

We didn't knock him back. He asked to be cleared to us but Jezza decided to have a look at him first. Then wisely decided to hang onto him and the rest is history

Ok, thanks for the confirmation GtB

He spent his early life in Wandin which was in Carlton's zone

Top player, all the same

Gun. And a player whose attributes I reckon would suit the modern game.

Back to the Bison. I heard a commentator last night refer to him as Baby Bont. Can't recall who or what show but he's being noticed

A no nonsense player with a good head on his shoulders

My initial comparison when we drafted him was with a player like Luke Hodge

Early doors but he looks like he's got a bit of a hard edge

Cal Twomey dubbed him as Baby Bont...tipped him for the rising star too

I’m seeing he has a heap of skill, if he picks up his work ethic sometimes as quite often off the ball he just stands around, I reckon he will be a gun. Exciting prospect!

Even with the skillset he currently has at his disposal, he is a very handy player.

Once he gets stronger and fitter plus a bit of experience, he’ll be a gun. The only question is, where he will be best used to aid his development as an elite mid but also contributing to a finals side. I love him floating forward…

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
