With Greg Stafford now departing the Demons, who should we look for?

I definitely think we need a massive shake up of ALL our assistant coaches.

Who is currently available or would we endeavour to try to recruit to the Melbourne Football Club?

Here's a list of a few names that we should look at considering to get to the Demons.

1) Justin Leppitsch - has done some amazing work at both Richmond and Collingwood after his failed stint as Brisbane senior coach

2) Cameron Bruce - the former Demon has been assistant coach at Hawthorn and now Brisbane with quite a bit of success

3) Daniel Giansiracusa - has a impressive assistant coaching record at both the Bulldogs and the Bombers and might be looking for a fresh start

4) Steve Johnson - the former Cat was a very crafty forward and has done assistant coaching before.

5) Dylan Grimes - has recently retired from the Tigers and may be interested in being an assistant coach

6) Adam Simpson - the former Eagles Premiership coach might be interested in returning to Victoria and doing assistant coaching

7) Tom Hawkins - is about to retire after Geelong's finals campaign and may be interested in a new challenge at a new club

8) Nathan Buckley - is probably happy in the media, but it's always worth at least asking the question if he was interested in becoming an assistant coach again

9) Trent Cotchin - the champion Richmond Captain seems to be mainly doing media work, but it's always worthwhile at least inquiring if he wants to do assistant coaching

10) Brendon Bolton - is highly underrated due to being an unsuccessful coach at Carlton, has done great work at both Hawthorn and now at Collingwood behind the scenes

Anyway, these are all merely suggestions. But I am curious to hear what other Demons supporters think we should look at targeting to bolster our coaching group to assist Simon Goodwin once the off-season starts after AFL finals.

The primary focus should be to select high quality football people that will make the Demons a better team for next year.

I would also consider.

Cultural mentor……the less that is said the better!

Surely Wayne Carey would be a shoe in as a cultural mentor at any club - or Stringer? 🤗🙄

I am a little worried that we are having trouble finding assistant coaches for our side. Slone said no. No word on Bassett, Teague or Bartel. Nathan Jones has apparently been approached. Does anybody know maybe if their are any sources here that know if a deal has been done or who we plan to get on board? Should be interesting to find out!

Confirming Teague’s a no according to one of the journos, think it was Tom Morris.

Christ, are we gonna go into pre season with no assistant coach?

Saints just appointed Bolton and jarred rivers…

Well either an announcement is right around the corner for us and we have found some people just like st Kilda or we are peoples last choice for where they wanna be and we are having serious troubles and behind badly compared to other clubs who are having an easier time

Re Sloane didn't we approach him as a specialist coach rather than as a senior assistant / line coach? I'm presuming we would be looking at Jones in this capacity rather than as a senior assistant.

I see that ex-Bulldogs captain Robert Murphy has left Fremantle and is talking to a couple of Melbourne clubs. I wonder if he could be an option for the Dees?

Can you let us know why you would be so against this? He was one of my favourite non-Dees players and seems to have a good footy brain but maybe you know something I don't?

Was in a lift with Bob Murphy once. He looked me right in the eyes and farted. True story.

What a coincidence.

I once saw him fart in a lift, press the button for every floor then get out before the doors closed.

It was wrong on so many different levels.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
