Well I’ve just picked him up with a shovel and he’s a pretty ugly looking dude.

Sounds like he's more forked than spaded.

Sydney has to be the worst minor premier in the history of the competition. Not only did they lose to the wooden spooner, they also had a 100+ point loss in there.

If Geelong thump West Coast, as I expect they will, they could finish 2nd (requires GWS and Port to lose, which are both possible, and to make up 7% on Port, which they could do themselves by beating West Coast by 120 at GMHBA).

If they had lost to Fremantle two weeks ago, they'd be 9th right now and no guarantee to even make finals.

They will IMO be one of the weakest top 4 sides we've ever seen, and if they finish 2nd undoubtedly the worst top 2 side we've ever seen.

This has been the season for it.

Kind of sums up our season that the rain is falling on our final game. Can't even get fine conditions.

Hopefully it clears up, but on the way in to see the boys one last time.

Have no idea what to expect

Also on my way into the 'G after a couple at the Cricketers.

Sadly, I fear the turn in the weather will see many a MFC supporter not front.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Geelong go out in straight sets. A potential tough interstate assignment in week 1 followed by a Dogs/Hawks/Lions semi.

A potential over achiever of the 2024 H&A.

The AFL setup a Friday night blockbuster in the fixture.  Round 24. Dees v Pies.

Now it’s effectively a dead rubber. Only our pride and our rivalry on the line.

We want to win.

I think we need to win.

Some small revenge.

We want to beat them no matter where or why or what is at stake !!!!

IF WE WIN

Get to enjoy beating the Pies👏👏

Knock Pies out of 2024 finals race👏👏

Dees likely finish 10th (draft pick 9) 🤔

Get to enjoy the song👏👏👏

Alex Neal-Bullen gets a final game victory 👏👏

Celebrat Riv 💯 th 👏👏

Will be at least a bright spot on a down year 👏

IF WE LOSE

have to hear that putrid Pies song 💩💩

have to endure Pies talk about possible finals and their edge over the Dees 💩💩

finish 12th 💩 (draft pick 7)

Will be a downer for the night & for the summer 💩💩

on balance CLEARLY it’s better to win !!!

LETS GO DEES. LETS BEAT THE FILTH THIS WEEK !!! GO DEES

How's the attendance looking at the moment?

I had to go back to find out what this Maynard thing was that you just picked up with a shovel.
Thought it might have been a [censored].

Would’ve been interesting to see that hanging from a tree with the ‘Maynard’ label.

Maynard G Kreps

That’s a shame. I was hoping Laurie the enforcer would take out Maynard early on !!!!

Laurie wouldn't be my first pick.

If we lose it's possible we'll finish 14th. Absolutely want to win this handsomely tonight but 4 rungs higher in the draft is a reasonable consolation prize.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
