I always liked how we looked when Brown was in the side and playing well. He never gave anything other than 100%, even when his body and/or his limitations held him back.

Obviously integral to the flag, for which he will always be a Melbourne immortal. But also should be remembered for being a great person and, I suspect, an under the radar key leader.

Go well, Ben.

Made me a very happy man when he put through the first goal of the last in 21. I knew we’d won it then 🔵🔴🏆

He has been a great servant of the club, is a wonderful human being and his shave for charity shows the character of the man.

Sadly I watched him running around Saturday on the live feed. The spirit is willing but the legs can give no more. He got goals on experience and pure goal sense but he couldn't chase once the ball hit the ground. Let him do a lap of honour at halftime. As it is May looks like he will return so there is no room for BBB.

He played a major role in the 21 finals series.  And a great bloke.  Has a big future with our AFLW program I'd imagine. Thanks for everything.

Thanks for everything you have done at Melbourne Ben for the mens and women’s teams All the best for your future and for your family and loved ones.

Legend bloke and very good player. Thanks for the Flag BBBB

Ben enjoy retirement from AFL with your family. Thanks for everything and good luck for your future.

What a career. Forever grateful he came when he did.

We love you Benny, you're one of the true good guys of the game.

Get on the Club website to see Ben's farewell and Max's contract extension words.

We are lucky to have chosen this Club to support.

Thanks Ben. Loved having you play for the Dees. Legendary Melbourne Premiership 2021 player. Best of luck for the future.

… and in general.

A heart of pure gold. Words can’t adequately describe how special this man is. Examples of this are legion. One of the few people about whom you never hear a bad word spoken, ever. Gonna miss him so much.

On a practical note: I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be fit to be named for Friday night anyways. He didn’t train with the main group today, mainly spent time on the stationary bike.

Part of some of the best moments in my life which happened in a magical month of footy in September 2021. Lucky enough to be apart of the 2021 Qualifying Final and Grand Final experiences as a member in the crowd.

Totally Awesome BBB, Thank you. 👌🏆🥇🇱🇮❤️💙

Thanks, Ben.  You always stayed true to yourself, which can't be easy in the AFL, and promotoed and worked for your ideals.  Thanks for the Premiership too.

Go well and enjoy your retirement BBB, and the pile-on of deserved love on here. You were a joy to watch running around in the Red and Blue, and we can only hope you’re staying on for the AFLW team. A beacon of great club culture right there, which of course NOBODY in the media will find newsworthy.

Yep, well said.

Thank you BBB, an amazing career across 2 clubs. Importantly, a great human both on and off the field. So glad you got a flag with us ❤️💙 One of my favourite memories came recently against Port when he booted a goal outside 50 and it shut those bogans up in the crowd 😁

Go well, Ben.

He absolutely straightened us up. Forward 50 entry wasn't a problem when he was presenting.
Wish he was fit for 23+24.
I don't think we win the 21 flag without him. ❤️💙

Will never forget this moment. The Port fans sitting on either side of us were hurling abuse at him, absolutely vile. That goal felt like it was worth double or even triple the points.

They are a lovely bunch of human beings. Wanted to boot Hinkley a few weeks ago and now love him again.

When I think of ferals I think of them.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
