We'll be absolute bottom 2 next year if our midfield loses Viney, ANB and one of Trac or Oliver departs.

Having Todd at North is a bit concerning and Jack would clearly see a bright future at North.

Your first sentence is probably correct, but I think you misjudge JV with your second.  He has only ever shown Red n Blue blood.

Pretty sure I read Jack already turned down North's offer, Seems Clarry won't be going anywhere.. the concern is the silence from Tracc?

Yes all reports are saying Jack has turned down any offers from North and is working on a new contract with MFC.

This is just Clarkson expressing the type of player they are looking for. Of course he's going to say they're still persuing JV to show their supporters they're still in the hunt.

There's no way Jacks going to go play for a developing side.

There’s a very real possibility that North go past us next year, so I’d imagine Jack had a decent glance at what North threw at him.

There is also a very real possibility that we contend for a flag again and North remain a bottom 4 side.

Jack is contracted. He is going nowhere.

Honestly, the chances of us pulling Clarko out of North to coach the Dees are higher than Jack Viney leaving the Dees to go to Norf.

I love Jack Viney and always tell people he is my favourite player. (Kossie is catching up.) But I am not keen for us to extend on his current contract. We need to be a club that maintains flexibility, because we are not really sure if we are still a contender or not.

Jack will be incredibly valuable to even to a rebuilding side. We should all be familiar with how the Dean Bailey and Mark Neeld rebuilds went without experienced, mature leaders to support the kids.

If we want flexibility, that should've been considered when giving Laurie an extension. Or trading for Jack Billings with two years left on his deal. Or trading for McAdam.

I am on record about the Laurie extension and always wince on extensions for fringe players during or before the season. Billings and McAdam were given contracts to get them to join. The McAdam deal was obviously a mistake and Billings has not been a big success.

On Viney, I disagree because he can only play one position and he has poor disposal. The end will come quickly for Viney as he loses his pace. As I said, he is my favourite player, but we should ride out the current deal or let him go IMO.

so far they've gone for ollie wines and jack viney

i would imagine luke parker is very much in consideration as well

He actually said that I listened to the segment.

As others of said part of the media barrage were copping currently.

Cornes actually ran with this yesterday as part of our implosion saying Viney was looking around. He actually knew when he made this statement it was false.
When Cornes brought it up this morning it was he who pushed Viney, Clark was more discussing the kind of experienced player he was looking for.
He was like this earlier in the season with Bevin and he will not let up

I recall a young Viney( was it after his first game? ) standing up and bollocking the playing  group for their attitude and lack of commitment to the colours.

He may be one of the players agreeing with Trac about internal player matters.

Another Club with his old man and a genuine  championship coach leading a rebuild might be appealing .

Worse to lose him than Clarrie imo ( sacrilege I know)

Yeah Clarko steered away from specifics...didn't give anything away or scare the horses

It's ironic that North's problems all started when they jettisoned most of their veteran leaders.

First Fly comments on trading in Petracca and now Clarko on trading in Viney….

Since when was it ok for opposition coaches to comment on recruiting contacted players from other clubs mid season?

This sounds like a Kane Cornes SEN segment...

It’s madness. Clarko comments and it’s ok. Imagine Goodwin saying we are aiming to get Houston and Serong and other contracted players. It’s all smoke.  The media love the deteriorating story that is the MFC

Garry Lyon said on radio this morning that his understanding was that North asked the question and Viney said "no thanks".

I cannot believe our footy department let it come to this. I mean one of our key players being frustrated at how we performed this year and another being approached by a rival club before being able to say no thanks. Another needs to return home to SA for his family and rather than hold him to hos contract like Geelong would, we tell him how much he means to us and we will make it happen. Such outrage, the wheels have clearly falling off.

Jack: “dad, Timmy Lamb is low-balling me on a new deal… can you tell Clarko I’m interested in bashing some heads in the midfield for you guys…. A bit of media coverage should add a few bucks and another year onto my deal at the Dees”

Crossy works at North now I think. Last time I saw him he looked unbelievably fit. He’d still get 20 possessions in the AFL. He was such a hard working player.

He was great at the Dees. Was a senior player till the youngsters came through then I think he was in a fitness role with the club for a year or two after that.

McRae from the dogs would be a similar player and is worth a look. Having said that I think he would want to be starting 22. Not sure which club would want him. Maybe not us. As a matter of interest with Trac and Clarry out would you want him in our senior side this week? Again not sure. Oops I've lost my decisiveness. All these decisions to be made. Perhaps. Perhaps. Perhaps.

I don't understand why everyone is even remotely concerned about this? He is contracted like Trac, so it would take North's pick 2 at least to get us to trade him. North can throw whatever they want at him, we can just say no.

I have heard media people say that trade talk is the number one most listened to/clicked on media in the AFL world. This is why they put so much time into it and also why there is a show on the AFL website 'Gettable' that runs all year round and is just constant talking about nothing. It all started with AFL trade radio and it is now that on steroids.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
