if Trac goes I will be disappointed but renew my membership and go to the MCG each week to watch the boys we do have in the red and blue do their best. Go Dees.

I was talking to someone with close connections to Collingwood about the Daicos brothers being unhappy at Collingwood and wanting out. Their dramatic fall from 2023 Premiers to being outside of the 8 this year, combined with their coach calling the playing list a bunch of losers a few weeks ago, and then going blaming last weeks loss on the umpires can only have left them disenfranchised with the direction of the club.

I heard something very similar.

Can't reveal source, but he's been on the money before.

Big if true.

Where there smoke....

If we lose Truck MFC will become my 2nd team after the entry of the Tassie Devils. Until then I'll offer my support but it won't use up my emotional energy the way it has for 7 decades.

Wait till half their team retires in the next few years

No way no how will the Daicos brothers leave Collingwood.
They'd jettison Mcrae before that happened.

Probably true.  Still astounding that there has been no media focus on this.  Premiers in 2023, out in zero sets in 2024.

This thread has not only jumped the shark, it’s circled back to teach the shark a thing or two about internet absurdity.

Agree, and I like your wording "if Tracc goes".  I prefer those words to “we lost Tracc”.  'We lost Tracc" puts 100% blame on the MFC.  Yes, the club has a remarkable knack of fluffing stuff up, but does Tracc have some ounce of responsibility in this too, even 1%?  The club could have done lots differently, but are there things Tracc could have done differently too? I will watch and wait like the rest of us.

Ok have I missed something- has then been another story in the press I haven’t hear off? Why is everybody convinced he’s off to the Pies? Should I been even more worried or are we all just jumping at shadows?

Coz KingDingaLing announced it 2 months back?

If Trac goes …he goes because sadly we’re not a top 4 club (member wise) He loves playing in front of big crowds & what we dish up (crowd wise)  is not what he wants. He def wouldn’t go interstate (no MCG) there & so who knows who will come for him but I’d rather have Oliver & Viney (who will stay) because I believe they bleed red & blue (like Max) . I don’t feel that with Trac. He’s 29 played in all our finals series but didn’t make a difference in winning or losing so I’d def take the high picks if they come our way. I personally have lost a bit of love for him..still can’t believe he acknowledged Maynard after the Brayshaw act.

This is an insane post and symptomatic of a particular section of our fanbase that is legitimately living in an alternate reality.

Trac was our best player in the 2021 finals, not only was he literally BOG in the GF but he also was at worst our 2nd player in the prelim win over the Cats. He then played a finals series with a broken leg in 2022. You're telling me Trac isn't the one who is connected to the club? The guy who was crying after we beat the Cats in 2021? Meanwhile your 'hero' Oliver wanted a trade end of 2020 because he cracked the [censored] at not placing higher in the B&F, then proceeded to completely go off the rails last year and put a massive spotlight on the club (I'm not even mentioning his terrible form this year).

I'd be shattered if Trac left but I can't blame him for being upset - not only over the handling of his injury, but the complete lack of standards in player selection, teammates taking the [censored] off the field etc. The sooner our fanbase wakes up to how much of a hole the club is in (Due to our own doing) the better.

Just to keep the discussion rolling. There’s been rumours about Tracc to the Pies for several months. All completely unverified. Maybe he does want out? Maybe this week’s release by someone close enough to him is start of the process that will see him ask for a trade. Of course I think this is unlikely but we can’t rule it out. Has he played his last game for us?
one thing you gotta love about this club is it just keeps on giving.

Unless the Pies manage to get a refund on Lachie Shultz I can't see that happening!

I haven’t seen anywhere, that Trac wants out, so l don’t believe it . This is particularly after the level he’s reached and the C/V created  being a Melbourne player.

There are hundreds/ thousands of adoring little kids with No. 5 adorning their jumpers demonstrating their feeling for him.

As an aside, a relatively raw Jackson, with nothing approaching the same sort of C/V required 2 first rounders and a second rounder.

Trac is a huge step up from this, not to mention he is on a lucrative long term contract.

Let's say Trac wants to go to the Pies, he is smart enough and his management are smart enough to know that there is no world in which the Pies have anything that would satisfy us in a trade. For starters they have no first round pick this year. Their best players are all old, or a Daicos, which they clearly will not trade.
It is just a total fantasy.

If his life long desire was to play for Collingwood, he doesn't commit to SEVEN years at Melbourne.

I’m just throwing it out there as part of the discussion. Maybe the Pies come at us with Quaynor, their first this year and next. Deals get done, the world moves on. Obviously I find him leaving unlikely but not impossible and I enjoy the discussion

I guess playing for C'wood reduces the chances of bad and career ending injuries.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
