but more often than not the player gets their way (Gibbs and Kelly did eventually anyway).

Both of those were interstate "go home" deals. As most (almost all?) of the broken-contract deals are.

Don't see how a Petracca deal is more likely next year unless he really agrees to go to whoever can put together a decent offer - including WCE, Richmond etc.

He'll be 30 in 2026, but with 4 years left on a massive contract. Not exactly enticing. As I posted earlier in this thread, you look at previous huge trades for the likes of Dangerfield, Franklin, Judd - they were a lot younger than Trac when the trades went through and still with a lot of high-level footy left in them and worth selling the farm for.

Extending the trading of future draft picks to 2 yrs is the possible/likely catalyst.

Haven’t don’t the maths but how the introduction of Tassie impacts future draft pick order would be interesting…

May as well leaver it for Petracca to cook. Make sure you have plenty of Oliver oil.

A conversation I had this week with a current connection of MFC.

started with I can say anything sorry, elaborated to:

- We are chasing one of WCE forwards pretty hard (didn’t say which one)

Nothing to ground breaking really…

The more I think about this, the more I don't believe it. Players might want a change of a coach or an assistant coach, change in gym conditions, change in training times - whatever! But players are NOT concerned with administration matters. That is the last thing they are interested in.

Sorry, but I think the originator of this story (and I don't necessarily mean Vineytime, it's possibly your source or the source of your source) is making it up to push an agenda. It just doesn't ring true.

The strangest part is the suggestion of wanting 2 of the 3 gone. Well are they good at their role or not? If not, why want any of the 3 to stay? Doesn't add up to me.

True. And they are all quite disconnected: one of the coaching staff, one of the paid admin, and a volunteer board member.

Unless it does, because he pays attention to that kind of stuff

@Vineytime never mentioned anything about it being an administration issue..

Clearly some players including Trac have a complete lack of trust in Pert and Richardson and that's been the noise over the past couple of weeks and clearly this is in line with the information VT is passing on.

Pert and Richardson have a big say in what goes on in the football department which the players are heavily involved with. Clearly under their leadership, some of the off field matters have not been handled well at all which is why there's a current external review going.

Some very clever puns in the last few days🤣

I have taken it upon myself as a connoisseur 😉 of all things related to Italian food and drink, to award a prize for the best.

Fittingly the prize is a virtual decanter of Luci's homemade Limoncello.

this seems to be the vibe

richo will go soon, and pert will go before the bye next season

would be crazy if one player can have such a profound effect on three key off-field roles - president, ceo, and head of football

It does but it may of been the shakeup this club appeared to have needed.

Also, if he is concerned about his brand and about the size of the club: why would he want to get rid of Roffey and Pert who oversaw a HUGE rise in membership?

This is all nonsense. He might have had issues about "culture" or game style or whatever, but not high-level administration. That is something that people like Peter Lawrence worry about. I don't  believe the original statement at all, and wonder who the "current connection with MFC" is....

What is his problem with Pert and Richardson? Is it football-related, or that they didn't send him flowers after the accident?

I'll be honest. Last few years I had a boss who was excellent, and I mean excellent. But good God did I despise him. No personal manner about him. Would often infuriate me without even having a clue. I literally moved to get away from him. I'm not saying Pert or Richardson are like this but it is certainly possible to have everything going well but people want you gone.

The only 'medicine' she would administer was panadol. She routinely refused medical procedures because she believed that the way to God was through suffering.

Her hospital was called "Home for the Dying" for a very good reason. Few who entered emerged alive....

sounds like she would have made a good CEO.

I'm so glad a select group of DL's have orchestrated the character assassination of a highly regarded world identity rather than digging up more crud on Pert, Roffey, Goodwin and Richardson!

I dont think you can credit roffey and pert with that feat. They almost fell into it as a result of the flag in 2021. You could argue they were at the helm when the numbers plateaud and fell in the years that followed.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
