They really made sure to tick all the boxes:

Can’t wait for next year

Disappointing to miss finals

All great mates and life long friends

Setting myself for a big 2025 with the MFC

Big smile because I’m genuinely happy

I’ve seen less contrived interviews with Macho Man Randy Savage, but who cares. He’s stuck with us (for now), he’s a jet and is driven to give his all for his own sake, regardless of whether he’s completely happy at the club. Let’s hope we make amends in 2025 in every way and he is still happy to be there.

Trac being a no show at the B&F stinks.

Could have been a great opportunity to show how committed he is to the club in public but instead he’s decided to cash in his two business class flights to Austria for the Red Bull Program early.

Not sure when the B&F is, but surely you’d think Tracc might think it important to spend that night with his teammates - to get some brownie points at least. Surely he could head OS after that night.

It’s apparently in October which seems to be pretty late for a team that was last seen a few weeks ago.

If the B&F was in September then this wouldn’t be an issue.

Excellent Idea for Tracc

High Performance Training is what he needs

but why go to a high performance centre on the other side of the planet when you are still injured and recovering

surely at this time he would be on light exercises

doesn't make sense to me, unless i'm missing something (probably likely - lol)

He is a Red Bull brand ambassador. Likely catering his training for the stage of recovery he is at. Getting paid and getting some training in early and a bit of time out of Melbourne & Australia. Win-win-win I say.

Sounds a good idea considering the little physical work he has been able to do since KB. Makes sense using this camp to get sufficient conditioning into himself in readiness for day 1 preseason.

However, would love to know the actual dates of the camp to see if there was any scope to delay leaving so he could attend the B&F. Can’t help feeling a huge opportunity being missed here to address the loyal fan base with a short address emphasising his commitment to the red and blue. Just seems very convenient but will give him the benefit of the doubt guess.

It’s on the 4th October which is the Friday night after the Grand Final. Venues for a function of this size need to be booked months in advance. Imagine the [censored] up if the b & f was held in September if the club was playing in the grand final.

It seems to me that nothing would satisfy some people.

You actually don’t want him at the best and fairest with a room full of drunk, loud mouth supporters…..it only takes 1 for the evening to be marred in further controversy. I just wish he was taking Clayton with him.

Given he's a Red Bull ambassador, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a contractual requirement to do this camp every year even if he didn't want to do it, and so this could all be nothing more than a scheduling clash.

Sadly, it's a bad look and the media love that.

I seriously doubt that's the case. If he were in line for the B&F and hadn't had the recent controversies you think he wouldn't attend?

If he were in line for the B&F perhaps the club would have made more of an effort to move the B&F?

(Not a rhetorical question, a genuine one - when was the date first announced?)

Spot on these events are booked 12mths in advance ..some of the comments honestly …professionals would be guiding trac in his recovery and yet prr we people act like they are experts

He's contracted to the Melbourne Football Club first and foremost. I highly doubt as part of of his ambassador role with Red Bull that it would be part of his deal that he needed to attend every single camp, every single year.

There are thousands of elite athletes all over the world that are red bull ambassadors. Think about their professional schedules, there is no way some are able to travel all across the world to attend a camp. Some simply wouldn't have the time.

And I highly doubt a professional sporting club like Melbourne would cater an event based around one individual. Events aren't organised based around what's best for certain individuals.

Why would the move its date ?

it’s always recently not clashed with the GF generally the following week end. Or Friday night. Sometimes you need months like a wedding date to reserve it at function centres.

Lets get real it’s far more important for a crucial fitness base than the mixing and catching up with other teammates and staff plus a gaggle of a few Demonlanders judging from what I am  reading about this news ( which I think is great yes slightly selfish in part but totally correct) and the longed for breaking news of our base moving along its moving path to fruition.

The reaction on the whole-has  been rather negative and depressing and almost as if predetermined by some who pick out any thing to escape any positivity or credit to the Board members or the process of such an important asset to our Club.

This has been a great week for MFC considering the last previous weeks with Melky Trac and now our long awaited base gathering legs we should be opening whatever your choice of tipple is to celebrate.

The pre season is underway and trading drafting and training is upon us let’s look forward and support our recovery and potential return to the Finals in 2025.

My mum flies into Vienna next week. Not sure what she's up to in Austria, but I doubt it's to attend the Red Bull High Performance Training Centre, although she has been going to pilates classes twice a week recently and is pretty good shape for her age. Still, I can ask her to keep an eye out for Christian - who she wouldn't know from a bar of whey brownies from his good friends at Myprotien Australia - and forward any questions you might have if she bumps into him at the airport.

He’s more advanced than that. Been training with a functional trainer called Max Pertzel for at least the last few weeks and judging by their socials he seems to be lifting decent weights already.

The mind boggles how he won an award for journalism.

Your metrics may be a bit different to those of the AFMA's, which didn't mention anything about journalism, or quality of, in bestowing the accolade: “No one has had a bigger presence in football this year, via television, radio and newspapers, than Kane Cornes. No one. Now or in the past.”

Tom Morris also got a gong, along with "AFL 360, hosted by Gerard Whateley and Mark Robinson, highlighted by powerful interviews with Melbourne superstar Christian Petracca." The AFMA doesn't seem to have a website, so it's a bit hard to work out who is giving awards to who and then reporting on those awards.

He’s been given the go ahead to train at full capacity, according to the article from yesterday.

Whilst it is great news that he appears fully committed to the Demons and season 2025, I have some mixed feelings.  Will he ever be the same after such a shocking injury?  PTSD is very real in these types of cases.  Knee injuries are one thing but damage to internal organs is on another level.

After all of the trouble, is he going to be the same old Trac?  Are there still fences to be mended with team mates? Is CP only marking time until he can shoot through?

It seems that perhaps a compromise of sorts may have been reached.  The difficulty with that of course is that the minute you start compromising for the sake of massaging somebody's ego, it's game over.

Finally, those of you that can analyse body language can interpret the meaning of his repeated eyes down and to the left.

And I agree 100% with Volcano as well. He is bigger than the club it seems.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
