The club needs to make sure that the players maintain good relations with Trac over the next six weeks, especially with Wacky Wednesday tomorrow. (I think Trac probably won't attend given his injury and the situation but we don't need an incident.)

I still think it will be unlikely that we can strike a deal which is sufficient given the clubs he wants to go to have low draft capital.

We need to be confident that Trac will not be disruptive if no trade occurs and so we don't need an incident while the players are on the booze.

As for Petracca, I'm in two minds.  One part of me just wants to just get rid of the bloke but why give him what he wants? 

Or possibly burn the $1Million per season and make him see out his contract.  Playing at Casey wouldn't do much for Brand Petracca so he'd soon come to the party

But do we want the day to day circus to continue?  This is why the player nearly always has the upper hand (if they want out)

The other glaring issue is Petracca's current fitness and if that lowers his market value.  If so, it can't be a high-end sale, more like a fire sale

And I'm wondering why more people aren't talking (here) about his ability (or inability) to ever get back to his best.  It's a very real issue with regards to getting the proper trade value for Petracca

A colleague at work told me the emergency team said his injuries were equivalent to a car crash victim (i can;t remeber where my colleague said he heard that from). As bad as they've seen. I've no idea know how truthful that is but there is a question mark as to whether he will fully recover.

I don't think making him play at Casey is practical. cutting our nose off to spite our face. IF Trac is that unhappy then we are forced to trade. Trac's brand would be very diminished as well so i can;t see him pushing this option either.

If the club could somehow bring in a top 10 pick and maybe a late first rounder I reckon JT would turn those into good players for us. Not sure how that could eventuate but I sure know we don't want to be bottoming out when the Tassy team enters the comp. that would be a disaster.

Every footballer wants to win every single game, Play in big crowds, big games  and win as many flags as they can.
We all know that will never happen some may win 1 some may win 3 but most win none.

 

Nathan Jones, Patrick Cripps and a few others loved the club more than themselves and stuck around to help their clubs. 
 

He has one a Norm and a flag and he realistically still has a shot at another with Melbourne. 

Toby Greene and the Bont would play in front of no one for their clubs that’s how much passion they have for them. 
 

I use to watch Trac on the field and he’d always put his head down and have a whinge when things didn’t go his way (which always made me think there’s no way this guy is the next captain) but I always thought he’s frustrated because he wants us to do better… now I don’t think that at all.

I never said they are reading this thread. I said they probably Google their name and come to see what is being said about them. It's definitely not everyone, but as if an 18 year old isn't doing that.

And where is the ageist slur? I was making a point that most young men with an ego big enough to play footy, would be curious to see what is being said about them online.

Social media wasn't a big thing when I was 18, but I have a teenager and I can see just how they operate around this sort of stuff. I reckon you'd be shocked the amount of stuff that is written on here that gets back to players, either directly or indirectly.

And Trac wouldn't give one single hoot what anyone at our club thinks about him, let alone the supporters.

If the club plays a hard line and holds him to his contact, is it possible he raises Mental health concerns (linked to his horrific injury) as leverage.

If the public’s sympathy swayed towards him it would put the club in a very awkward position.

Yea starting him at Casey is a bit tongue in cheek but the bigger point is if Trac is unhappy about standards and player responsibility, he maybe can get a taste of his own preferred medicine. We have to be firm here.  Buckley is spot on

The “elevating the brand” theory is bizarre. Not suggesting it’s untrue, but definitely suggesting his “brand” stands to simply become “arrogant, fickle, petulant Mummy’s boy” if he doesn’t do the necessary damage control. 
 

I’d say phase one of this elevation is losing your regular gig on AFL 360, with more general ridicule from the football world at large to follow.

I was being flippant with the whole Casey thing ... it won't come to that but in overseas sport, that sort of thing does happen especially in soccer (although, it's usually the player laying down the tools)

His trade value is totally up in the air with any number of variables at play.  So expecting a raft of top end picks is highly questionable

In fact, his value might be so low that we just keep him on the books and hope he does the pro thing
