Don't tell me we're finally cured of the media?!

More like disinterested and, in my personal experience, look at them with contempt. This is the result of the travesty surrounding the Angus Brayshaw incident last year.

The problem with the Corn is that whilst he used to be outlandish he is now pretty reasonable in most things that he says.

He is not wrong that Goodwin is going to be under enormous pressure next year.

But the contract stuff is laughable, can't be blaming Melbourne that Collingwood players are thugs and a young man (one of the greatest demons ever) goes through a bad patch off field.

Like so many so called journalists Cornes see the game through his 20/20 hindsight lens

It’s rather predictable and boring 🥱

Its just his opinion, doesn't actually have any bearing on how we will go in 2025.....

Quite a bit of discussion on the "Goodwin is the MAN" thread yesterday, @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew.

Thanks, Mr Stone.

Being only a dead tree reader, I only saw it in this morning's branch. I presume if there was reaction to it yesterday, reactors were reacting to it in one o' them new-fangled digity-dogity things?

'T'wasn't intended as such; I really couldn't believe it!

I’m actually interested in reading it but it’s behind a paywall. Can anyone paraphrase it?

Yes. Read any of Cranky Frankly's posts.

Cranky's posts are in front of a payall. You have to pay to have a barrier put up.

Lost me at Cornes.
Clickbait artist.

He doesn't say anything new but nothing he says is wrong.

Controversially he says that offering Brayshaw, a player only one concussion away from retirement, a six year contract was a mistake. He's not wrong.

He also alludes to the club knowing about Oliver's issues but still offering him an eye watering contract.

He says trading Grundy was a mistake. As was gifting them to Sydney.

He says letting Jordon walk was a mistake.

He says we risk doing a Tim Taranto-like mistake by giving up too much for Houston.

Some here dare not admit it but nothing he said was wrong.

He also said that Goodwin's coaching is predictable and boring, and that it'll cost us prime time spots and crowds next season.

Again, not wrong.

Said many times by demonlanders before - AFL media, former players desperate attempt to stay relevant.

Sadly they loose all credibility gained from great careers.

Regardless of Corners 300 odd games and premiership medal he will only be remembered for being an antagonist, gutter media person.

I agree with a lot of it, but how was giving Brayshaw a long contract a mistake?  Genuinely would like to know.  Does he think we would be better off if he had a 2 year contract and got wiped out?  Or is he implying that we are picking up the bill to pay the entire contract out?

Tom Morris to Arden Street: 'What if I wrote you were luring Jack Viney to Arden Street?'

Arden Street: 'That's interesting.'

I can't take notice of the AFL related media any more. Most, if not all MFC news I want, I get from either the website or here.  There is little real analysis done, they just state the obvious and colour it for the agenda or bias they already have. This week it will be that Sydney can win the flag,  after last week being no chance...It all gets so predictable.

Hahaha I can literally hear David King in my head saying "Sydney's last 15 minutes is as good as anything we've seen this year. If they can play like that they'll be premiers"

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
