WE CAN WIN TONIGHT.

Stranger things have happened… take this entire bizarro season for example.

It would be great to see as many fans there as possible tonight. Rain is not predicted and a top of 18 and sunny is a gift in August. Please turn up if you can. Let’s ensure a decent turnout, if for no other reason than to avoid another What’s Your Excuse? thread.

Seriously. It means the world to the players to know we’re there.

Replacement buses on our line again, @Rab D Nesbitt 🤬 but that won’t stop us, will it?! Sure, it’ll make us wish we were dead, but it won’t stop us. On a wing and a prayer…

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!!!

I had fully intended to attend tonight's match.

However, I am instead going to a celebration of life event for Bonnie the cat, who passed away a few days ago at the age of 18. Her owner (a Demons supporter) and her family are heartbroken. I hope that is a good enough excuse.

C'mon Dees ... do it for Bonnie!

I've reached that calm moment where I accept that the team is depleted and the season is not going to end in triumph. I'll be watching for the small things; little glimpses of talent from the kids which build anticipation for the future, simple moments of football beauty, and surges of sustained pressure and effort which might not last quite long enough but do affirm that we still know how.

And in that state of mind, we'll probably win and then I'll have to think 'mathematical possibilities' for the final two rounds like 2005 all over again.

Hi WCW. Fortunately I'm within walking distance of Ardeer station on the Ballarat line as well as a metro line so can avoid the bus. At least on the way in. It wouldn't surprise me if we get rolled in all of our remaining games but we all live in hope.

Are you hoping for a dead cat bounce?

Goodwin spoke about the expectations we have for our players when they put on a Melbourne jumper. Let's hope we see those expectations be met by the players tonight.

I also hope that our supporters show up. While we need the players to show more grit, it would be good if the supporters did the same.

A win isn't as important as having a proper crack. Last week was just not acceptable.

I'm bringing some overseas work colleagues that are in town along to see a game of footy. Would be a shame if we don't put up a fight and this game is as one sided as last week.

That said, we don't chuck in the towel at the G so i expect us to bring plenty of effort. We're badly out of form and missing key players so I'm not hopeful of a positive result but as long as we try hard I'll be happy.

Go dees

Unfortunately we've had a few unacceptable performances this year.

I’ll be there.

Hoping for some serious pressure and fast flow footy and for a starting square midfield of Rivers, Pickett and McVee at some stage of the game.

I’d just like to see the Dees turn up mentally tonight and produce a four quarter effort. If we do, we can win. If not, it will get very ugly.

Game day baby. Pumped!

C’mon Demonlanders, fire up you miserable bunch of………..(well not everyone).

Lets face it, Port are sheet and will never win a premiership under KH.

Get to the G and be loud for our Dees.

See you there. Go Dees

I feel like being his wife means that he should just do whatever I say, but annoyingly it’s not always the case. So rude 😂

Unfortunately we’re back to the days of hoping for 100% effort and as close to a 4 quarter performance as possible.

Looking forward to seeing the future on display tonight - JVR, McVee, Rivers, Kolt, Kozzie, Houston.

Our horrible performance against the ‘Scraggers’ has given me nightmares all week, so I’m choosing to go with the dreams I had before the ‘wheels fell off’.
Dees by 3 points.  ❤️ 💙

I’d love to see some more connection and excitment in our young fwd line

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
