McQualter reported to be in the running for WCE job.

Our midfield has gone backwards, if that's his job then I would call it a failure.

it sounds like stafford, at least, will go as a result of being out of contract

mcqualter and chaplin both contracted for 2025

I'd be very sorry to see Chaplin go, our defence has been generally great for many years under enormous pressure. He's a gun IMO.

I am MORE convinced than ever that Goodwin is NOT the man to take us forward. We need a new coach!

Still time for Jeffo to be named, PF

Was wondering the exact same thing. It’s confusing. I ❤️-ed one of these two posts then 🤮-ed the other. 😅

Should be coaching for his future, if we get a flogging in the last two games it shows he’s lost the players

We need to be very competitive or we’re in more trouble than most think

Nah.

fish rots from the head! Board can follow him as well....

Never a truer word spoken Fuchsias and the best example recently being the 20 year reign of Eddie at the Pies.

As you point out Eddie drove the racist culture and until he was forced out nothing changed.  I feel for Craig McRae who is lumbered with Ned kelly and his continued culture problem and must emabrrass their coach who seems decent.

But Eddie and Ned are tight and I susepct Jeff Browne has drunk the Kool Aid too, henc the unqualified defence of Ned.

Disgrace and I can't help but wonder how the great Nev Jetta is feeling.

I know Jodie Sizer (Pies Board director) and have wondeded why she also sits on her hands on this. Must like the Board perks.

Feels little Geelong in the Bomber Thompson days - albeit they hadn’t tasted success. But in the same way it didn’t end well for Bomber (I mean life choices more broadly) I suspect Goody might be in the same path. I always feel he is too sympathetic to players. Worked whilst we had the fitness and got on a roll, but we have never been tough enough to make a dynasty of it

Surely someone has something to say?

Since 4pm-ish on Saturday?

(Footnote: Goody's unambiguous presser statement that keeping Petty, Turner and Van Rooyen together has been a deliberate approach, for '10 weeks', to create what finally blossomed (and is clearly expected/intended to continue to flourish) on Saturday. So, also, Jefferson really does need to kick the door down)

The two longest consecutively serving coaches in the AFL, Chris Scott and John Longmire, have two and one flag to their names respectively. Clarko and Hardwick have three apiece but they’re nowhere near it this year. Flags are a ridiculously tough metric to measure a coach on. Literally every single coach there’s ever been has been a dud if that’s the metric.

We’ve only had one year under Goodwin where we’ve been uncompetitive, which was 2019. We’ve had four seasons (2018, 21, 22 and 23) where we’ve had a flag shot.  He is 7 from 8 on competitiveness, 4 from 8 on flag shots, and 1 from 4 on flag conversions. That is comparable with the best in the business.

You feel for more McRae do you? I feel for Jetts, but McRae is one of, if not the most, arrogant coaches going around.

You can add that in 2019 nearly no one at the club had a full preseason.

Agree on Mcrae and the few times the heats been on he reverts to type like whingeing about umpires last week. Nicely slapped down by Longmire.

I just suspect Mcrae not a racist so fitting in at the Pies may be tricky for him

Agree on McCrae, protected by the media because of Collingwood but he is a whinger of the highest order

Thought Goodwin coached really well on the weekend

I thought he was stubborn, no plan b or c.

If Goodwin is the man , what does that make Mitchell the Hawks coach ?

I think the next 6 months will be the making of Goodwin.

Oddly, I have absolute faith he can navigate this crucial period.

What's this BS? Have you forgotten that we were the highest scoring team in 2018? Over 150 points more than the minor premiers and over 200 points more than the next highest club.

It's just patronising and disrespectful.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
