It's 17,362. That is the number of members we've lost in 18 months.

In dollar terms, it is a loss of $5,208,600.

hence, the price the stars, like The Bont, can pull.

Even after watching us in games where we draw 20K, and it seems like a suburban type of product, AFL is a Big Business.

So, Goody, and Richo and Chocco ... you've been great but we need fresh talent.

Speculation in the West is that Adam Simpson is moving back to Victoria after selling his holiday home and his current home is for sale. Could he be looking for a new coaching gig? Goodwin, Voss and Lyon should be looking over their shoulders.

Adam Simpson ‘selling $6.5m home’ amid Melbourne speculation

Former West Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson is reportedly selling his $6.5 million City Beach home as speculation about a move back to Melbourne intensifies.

Richo can’t say what he left at Eagles inspires me. Goody deserves to see out his contract I simply can’t see a change without a CEO or president overseeing it is smart.

The boys on the pod are spot on our biggest issue are skills we butcher the ball. To be in contention you need to take the game on and have the skills to match the risk. So much of our dare and risk is undone by poor skills. That why we need guys like Fritta great skills. Identify the ball butchers there the one we need to offload.

In terms of how to do it look at Freo last week. Just prior to their last goal they nailed a high risk corridor kick that open the Pies up and led to a match winning goal. If that had been us we either would not have taken the kick for fear of losing or taken the kick and butchered it. AFL is a game of small margin and our skills kill us.

I'm tipping he's not selling his 3 Hungry Jack's franchises that generate an estimated $2m+ pa in profits.

Should that have been in the salary cap by the way?????

Goody on 360 tonight.

“We will leave no stone unturned to get better” said Goodwin. I know one stone which definitely needs to be turned.

I’m well and truly over the spewing of coaching 101 phrases from Goodwin.

Yet he plays the same players in the same positions each week regardless of form............

Right Simon....

After watching how putrid Carlton were last night after Hawthorn put the cue in the rack after quarter time & we couldn’t beat that!

Watch old Rossy Lyon out coach us for the second time this year on Sunday.

If we had a President & CEO the decision should’ve been made already

Typical Goodwin saying “we will leave no stone unturned “ however brings in the usual favourites and doesn’t expose the young guys to some games when the season is shot. He’s coaching for his own existence, not for the betterment of the team. Please move him on.

It makes me absolutely sick

No reward for Johnson, Kentfield, Culley or Laurie in the VFL

I’m convinced Goodwin is delusional enough to think we’re just a Petty or Spargo away from a flag tilt

@Queanbeyan Demon said we’ve lost 17,000+ members in 18 months

Reckon we’ll make that 25,000+ if Goodwin is still here in 2026

No stone left unturned…that’s because he has turned them all over.

Spargo in when ever no matter form or injury. Petty back, petty fwd.

No matter form, Petty in.

Sparrow only HFF. Don’t try anyone else in the middle.

Oh, I’ll keep the fans happy and make a change… hmmm 🤔

That Windsor kid was good on a wing… I’ll put him to HBF and watch him fail all year… I’m a genius!

I agree in part, kicking skills is one thing, running to space to receive & running to create space is another and requires no kicking skills. I’ve said many times before this year, not all of Collingwood’s players are great kicks but they do the other things so well, plus their effort and pressure is normally pretty good. We need to stop making excuses, it’s been Goodwin’s list for a while now, he needs to take ownership.

If Goodwin is coach next year thats me out after 20 years of memberships! I would URGE others to follow suite

Come on, guaranteed when we're 5 goals down with 10 minutes left he'll shift Turner to the forward line 🙄

Bingo!! Disposal looks far better when putting the ball into space for your teammates to run onto. That's not skill, that's coaching.

We've been saying this for a while eh Doc

The biggest issue for me is the seniors players from, besides Gawn they have all gone backwards.

May looks disinterested.

Lever, Trac, Oliver, Viney, Petty, Fritch, Sparrow, Langdon have all regressed.

Windsor , Roo, McVee have gone backwards too.

Add in the horrendous trades of players that have had zero impact, Billing’s, FULLARTON, McCadam, Sharp and hence why we are in the position we are.

Lamb should be the first to go, absolute amateur hour.

Goody, Richardson as a minimum come under serious review.

I really can't see Goodwin being let go, football is a business and to drop a years salary - don't know his salary amount but what is it worth in memberships? Coaching transitions come with significant financial costs, termination payouts, hiring expenses, and potentially higher salary demands from a new candidate. Its a very expensive exercise. For a club hemorrhaging from a few years of poor form - is it economically rational to sack Goodwin??? From a board perspective.

God to think of another season of listening to goodwins dribble and another season without playing finals makes me sick in the guts.

I have little to no interest now and really am not looking forward to next season if Goodwin is still there.

It will be more of a financial disaster for the club if he stays imo.

Would you consider him? I wouldn’t

Despite the flag he has overseen one of the most dramatic falls from grace I’ve ever seen a club experience. From a flag team to a perennial wooden spooner

Don't think there is a queue for his services.

If you’re complaining about Goody butchering things post our flag then be warned that Simmo is skilled with a cleaver

The rate we're going, we're heading down the same pathway under Goodwin.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
