He’s been in the box all season so far. Probably because he needs to be better across what Jonesy is doing up there.

I have zero faith in this current board.

Watching a train wreck from the comfort of leather chairs in the box.

Green is not a president but a puppet

That’s harsh, Green hasn’t put a foot wrong and can stand aside satisfied he did pretty much exactly what he’l needed to.

Hopefully they make Goodwin squirm on AFL 360 this Wednesday.. Although he’s way too robotic to display any human emotions.

He has to go.. Players have become reflective of his robotic, structured, reactionary nature. We’re playing a brand of footy that just like when Simon speaks, is too structured, instinctive-less, dreary, boring and uninspiring.

For both player & fan, the sample size is big enough now to know that it ain’t working. And something’s gotta give.

You posted this while I was typing. Have to say i agree with your portrayal

What makes it so infuriating is it is under 14s stuff. Put the ball in front of your teammates/to their advantage.

U14s ?

Was taught that in Primary School !!

How an AFL level team CAN'T play football basics truly beggars belief

I am just staggered at the difference between last night’s game and today’s game on now

We are so far away from playing this way

Goodwin’s Gameplan is just wrong…!!!

Evolve or die….

We are wasting some of the greatest Demons of all time.

I'd say they have already been wasted.

Not all but the perfect combo of experience and age has gone by.

Max used to beat the cats all by himself. He looked a shadow yesterday

Tracca and Oliver and Viney have gone from the best midfield to meh to average the way they fumble.

Our backline was a shambles yesterday and most of the year.

Our fwd line ...well we all know about that.

So to use the present term in wasting is fairly generous JJJ.

At least the club has done well collecting some youngsters. As long as they are not infected by some of the poor senior players

One thing I don't understand, why Goodwin doesn't just step aside?

Is his motivation purely the money/contract?

Can't he see how much damage he is causing to the club?

Ego, denial and delusion play a part as well as the coin.

Seriously?

You're asking why Goodwin, a human/father/husband, doesn't just give up and walk away from his income?

I'm sure you, like the rest of us, would hate the idea of our players giving up. If you want them to buckle down and work hard, expect the coach to do the same.

If the club decides he's no longer the right man for the job, they can sack him. Until then, Goodwin works hard to fix the mess he's contributing to, just like the players.

You won't like my answer because I'm answering it with a literal fact.

Answer: Because its his job and he believes he can turn it around, because he doesn't believe he's the soul problem. Not sure how thats hard to understand that he's not simply going to step aside.

I'm sorry if this is having a go but questions like this just annoy me as obviously Goodwin isn't going to just step aside four games into a 24 game season.

I completely share you're thoughts that Goodwin isn't the right coach anymore. The players look lost of confidence and game plan. I think most of this falls on trust and commitment to the coach of which clearly Goodwin has none of this.

It will hopefully happen, maybe towards the end or at end of season. But its just unrealistic he's going to just walk out right now...

Problems everywhere. In every game this year the opponent has looked superior, like just waiting for them to flick the switch and run over us.

Game plan will never work. List has deteriorated evey year since 2021. We are no good at trading from other clubs. No improvement from most players since last year.

It's time for change, but like most here we don't think the club has the balls to do it and Goody won't walk.

He'll still get paid though. And probably will have offers to work as an assistant in several clubs. Not the end of the world for him.

And this is something that happens in professional sports across the world.

At some point he could see that him staying may damage the club even more?

There's a point of no return in these sort of situations.

I agree with you and this may happen as its been done before by other coaches late in seasons when the club and the coach himself has had every opportunity to turn it around.

You said you couldn't understand why he isn't stepping down four games into a season like thats a realistic normal occurrence. When has that happened before? Its just silly.

As much as we want something to happen its good also to have some perspective and be realistic... oh wait... this is Demonland 🤣

And well paid! Lets say more than most of us would earn after nearly a lifetime in the workforce. He won't starve! But fair comment!

Brad Green will sack him, we have mark williams that has afl coaching experience, we have Nathan Bassett that has had lots of coaching experience. There is zero reason to keep a coach we are planning on sacking in the position.

How did that work out when we sacked Neeld? Neil Craig was an experienced, competent senior coach. We were losing badly under Neeld but then went even further backwards under Craig. Which is exactly the same pattern we've seen Every Time we've sacked a coach mid-season. The incoming stand-in coach ALWAYS lost more matches than the coach he replaced. And not just at Melbourne either, happens across the league, and for that matter, happens across multiple leagues in different sports.

The only way to change a team's trajectory is through list change.

Delusional.

Mercifully, those in charge at the club understand this, also understand what Goodwin and the coaching team are trying to do, and understand where the list is at. As for the supporters ...
