Have said nothing on tv about it so far. He was in the midfield and then disappeared so possible.Β
He is too fragile to play midfield.Β

I am not saying it’s working. Or a good strategy. Just answering the question.Β

Midfield and defense should be ashamed of this performance. Senior players an absolute disgrace with lack of accountability and defensive effort.Β
No excuses and I love May but Jesus stop carrying on like a pork chop, you’ve been embarrassed today.Β

Yep, I gotcha.

We seem to be quite amazing at coming up with a strategy and sticking with it ALL game even when it's clearly not working.

10 mins left and there's still loose Freo players everywhere in their f50

It's that same old question mark about our lack of flexibility and adapting mid game if something is not working.

Hasn’t been mentioned on the TV. Will let you know when I hear.

This was never a team that was going to challenge for the flag. I had us making the 8 even with Gawn and Trac. Gonna be tough from here on out.

After really fighting hard last week, did not expect us to be as soft as we have been today.Β

Billings with 15 and a goal in a Q has been better than mostΒ

I'm not sure what it says about our steam when Billings has already had more possessions in a half than about 3/4 of our side.

Also I think we can dispel this is our 2nd home [censored]. Yes I know the significance of the ground but we are hopeless here.Β

For what exactly?

It was going to be hope for the rest of the season Murdoc. I'd like to change it to 'hope I've still got a little Scotch left from last week'

Not that it makes any difference to the result but why does Sparrow continue to 'walk on water'? Seriously, when was the last decent game he has played? 2021 GF? So did everyone. Please don't give me 'he's playing a role'. [censored]. OK, midfield cupboard is fairly bare but make an example this bloke. Promote Brown and let Tom kick off the dew at Casey.Β

And too slow off the mark.Β  Too often second to the ball.Β  He is simply NOT a mid fielder in any sense of the role and brings nothing to the table other than handing the oppo another opportunity at first use.

Another terrible coaching decision from Simon today.

Our shape around stoppage has been diabolical today along with everything else.

Div 7 type positional awareness.

Because something something he plays good defensive rubbish

Lever embarrassing - Β leaked goals all day. Β Honestly can’t believe how lose he’s been and when he has won the ball he’s turned it over consistentlyΒ

Β

Yes Turner, handball it back to Fritta so he can get gang tackled.Β

If a bloke of Turners size can’t mark he shouldn’t be in the team. That dropped mark was amateur hour

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.Β As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.Β

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
