Seems like 12 months ago, Clarry had let his standards slip and let people down with his off field commitment and other non advised issues. 
 

Club working with him to fulfill commitments and get his mind and body right for AFL football.  Despite his hand injury this season , he was getting back from stability and hopefully moving back to his commitments needed within the club and as an elite footballer.  But obviously issues don’t resolve overnight and ongoing requirements. 
 

Media alluding to: 

- teammates not fully convinced with Clarry and still querying his commitment and keeping on track 

- Contract is out to 2030 on at least $1million per year for the next 6 years so heavy weight on the salary cap 

- Goodwin and coaches support keeping Clarry and working with him to get back to his top form 

 - Pert has reached out to see who’s possibly an interested club to buy Clarry 

- seemingly limited response from other clubs given Clarry has ongoing issues and his salary is in the top echelon 

- Cats are interested party and manager/Clarry speaking to them 

- Dees will want an appropriate level of compensation like at least a low sub-10 draft pick or 2x 1st round picks (clubs don’t either have the trade capital or concerned he’s on the downward cycle and not worth the risk) 

- likely to stay but it’s all very unsettling for all parties

Who says we're shopping around clarry?

The Age article doesn't.  It simply says clarry thinks we are.

So can somebody please tell me definitely we are or aren't.

Multiple outlets reporting that Pert broached the topic with officials from other clubs in GF week.

Guessing those other clubs passed that on to media.

Could be as simple as at a function Pert is asked is Clarry gettable and he might have said for the right price most players are.

Then that spreads to we are shopping him.

Be issue the media have already driven the narrative we’re ‘shopping him around’ therefore he’s worth nothing, well nothing close to what he’s actually worth and thus any trade would be CRIMINAL cus it’d be a future first, for an all time great level player all cus we don’t want the attention and extra care Clazz brings which even if u true is now the narrative!

Again, this is a case of the media driving the narrative to where we are now forced to either accept a poor trade or keep him and either way our list and culture are ultimately what suffers! Whereas if player driven, we could drive a herd bargain and ask for 2 top 15 picks — but media have ensured that the perception now is that the CLUB is driving this even if untrue.. 

if GP DID mention to few clubs ‘Claz is up for right deal’ so WHAT — it should never get out but clubs make sure it does cus (ie cats) if they leak it our market position is undercut and we become snookered!

You really think Clarry and his management go to meet with Geelong based off this? 
Clarry is managed by the Connor group, as is Trac. If there’s one thing we’ve learnt, is that this management group isn’t shopping you around and setting up meetings with other clubs, unless all parties are in agreement that a trade is on the table.

Maybe the higher-ups have just had enough of dealing with all the issues and still don’t see this young man really growing and maturing into what they thought he could become. Maybe they think it’s time to cut their losses and move forward.

If so, then this IS a circus and Pert should know better as CEO and given his marching orders.

The Age has just dropped that Clarry met Rhys Stanley and Tom Stewart at Stanley's farm yesrterday arvo after meeting Hocking etc.

Leaked by people close to Clarry but not to be identifed as they had no authority to speak on the record.
