Gold coast with two extra first round picks in 2025.

What? Is their academy closing down?

Clear winners out of this, not only in trade value.

Can you imagine the joy of death-riding BOTH Port and Collingwood in the same season?

They didn't want pick 13, Atkins or Lukosius.

Big winners.

Would be nice to have landed him, but very overrated in the regard of the media trying to paint Collingwood as outright flag favorites just because of this very acquisition.

Not a top 10 player, not overly quick and for all the talk, only rated 15 by Champion data. 28, so people really see that much more improvement in him?

do you mean he's rated 15th in the competition by champion data?

i rate houston so highly; would have suited our side perfectly

very annoying he's landed at the filth

agreed. Let’s hope the draft pick brings with it a different kind of hope.

Pies are laughing !!!

Port talked a tough stance.
“2x FIRST round picks only !!”

”He’s contracted for 3 more years”

”Happy to stay if no deal”

”not taking that deal”

then it’s fine and done next day

Port are clowns

Season 3 Bonjour GIF by BBC America

effectively given up Houston for 13 (16) and 29 (34) - yes middle/late 1st round and middle 2nd round pick.  Wow.

effectively traded away future 1st round for Lukosius.

effectively given up Houston to a competitive premiership opponent

Helped Suns offload $1.3m off their salary books by taking Lukosius and Atkins who often weren’t in their best 22.

Spot on SONS. Why would you willingly stengthen another contender? If Houston genuinely didn't care where he landed, surely North was the logical destination from a Port viewpoint.

On SEN this morning, G Lyon asked Port List manager Crips directly "...did the Suns pick up any payments for Lukosius's contract..."

He didn't answer and fudged it meaning IMO Port are paying full tote for Jack and the Port fans should rightly be screaming.  Cripps spent most of the interview justifying the deal to "..help the fans understand the thinking..."

Trouble's a- brewing on this .

Beats us being the story for a while now.

Out of interest, when did the idea of a club trading someone and continuing to pay part of their contract originate in the AFL? I don't really remember it prior to Grundy and as far as I know it doesn't happen in many other professional sports does it? At least it doesn't seem like in other sports you have players still being paid by a former club for multiple years after leaving?

To me it just seems like a crazy path to go down. If you're going to part with a player it's hard to swallow the idea of paying them to play for someone else.

Collingwood had to do it with Treloar. I'm sure there have been others before that too. Ultimately it's all about managing the cap and sometimes that cap space in the short term can offer you better rewards in the long term.

I don't understand why A) if Houston was happy staying if a fair deal wasn't reached they went ahead with this deal, and B) If he was happy going to any club then why all of a sudden did it turn into just Carlton or Collingwood when North had more trade currency.

Houston full of it or something else happen behind the scenes?

It's been going on for years. IIRC Richmond were paying  a fair whack of Ben Holland's contract when he moved to the Dees.

I just caught the tail-end of an SEN interview with Houston and from what I'm gathering our issues have literally cost us his services.

Did anyone catch all of it?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
