I'm just glad he got through the game when so clearly not ready. Hopefully he'll be better next week.

in truth, second game upon return is often the hardest

Jake had a couple of poor seasons that saw him dropped a few times. Very inconsistent

Things clicked last year so hopefully he can recreate that form. But he won’t transform us

Au contraire

A forward who stops the other teams best interceptor. It's an extremely important role in the modern game.

Still reckon defensive forward is OVERATED! I'd prefer a gun goalkicker than a defensive forward!

"Coaches favourite " he'll be ok

I’m still annoyed that his screamer wasn’t paid. So obviously a mark.

His running patterns today opened up our forward line. And he showed last year that he can adapt it depending on the defence. I think it really clicked for him last year and it looked like he was enjoying making the other forwards look good as well.

A big Welcome Back Melky!

9 marks, 9 kicks, 2 goals 1 on return

opened up our forward line, and minimised their ability to rebound

super to have him back out there

Good player and leader.
Just what we need down there.

Welcome back Melk!

His left leg right bullet i50 pass in front of the members was elite.

Can’t recall who he hit uncontested at full forward but it was great.

His kicking forward really is amazing and when he’s playing well I think he makes us a couple goal better team with his vision.

Always been a fan of his but was very surprised about him coming straight in but he exceeded my expectations.

Be fascinating how the recovery goes as his fitness will still be a long way back

McGovern had no influence on the game either.

By the way, why is McGovern allowed 3-5 business days to dispose of the football? 🤷‍♀️

Should really have been 10 marks ;)

This is typical demonland herd mentality. For Melks sake I hope I am wrong but this smells like a Spargo rd 1 inclusion. You should not pick players unless they are cherry ripe. Melks hasn’t played in 10 months and is how 33 years old. Sorry chook but you have your head in the sand with this one.

🤪

yep it was a speccy moment and all on instinct.

I think it was Fritta's hand that got in the way.

One day someone will explain to me how come team-mates fly for same mark?

In other words, how come team-mates don't talk - is there not enough time to say yours?

I could understand if it was an opponents hand it collected, but it was his team-mates hand, come on umps.

No sense of theatre at all.

Bravo Jake Melksham you helped make us a better and tougher team.

Who wouldn’t? Not sure what gun goal kickers we have sitting on the shelf waiting for a game. The shelf compromises of NQR forwards like Laurie, Billings and Schache.

Love a good return. Really glad the milkshakes are back in the yard. Not gonna hear a bad word from me today.

OMG Demons literally have an 100% record of bringing players back too soon

Thanks Goody

😂😂

Just earned himself another contract.

Didn't miss a beat.

Rarely gets beaten and takes out an intercepting defender. He make Fritta a better forward as it’s the role Fritta has played of late.

The only person who didn't think that was Milky's mark seemingly was the maggot with the whistle.  Even the weagles thought it was...they,all ,surprised...possibly Jake too but HE thought it was good.

Changed the momentum a little too at that moment.  Weagles scored shortly after. They shouldn't have.

And that's one of the main reasons we fell out of the finals last year. No Melksham.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
