PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

Any worries about Salem? Goodwin said he was subbed off after some knee soreness I think. He looked a bit proppy in the third.

his going off and being subbed out was a huge part of us dropping our bundle

rivers went back to cover for him and our midfield got pantsed for the remainder of the game

I think Windsor has to go. Couldn’t even execute basic handballs last night. Needs a rest.

Also AnB must tag Zorko and we need Petty to play a defensive forward role on Andrews. If we can nullify those two we might get a look in.

Yep agree but you may have forgotten their mids. They are miles in front ours and give good service to their forwards who are looking dangerous even Hipwood.

Oliver hates him too after the eye gouge in the 2022 SF.

Can't see this ending up in anything other than a 40+ point lions win, hope I am wrong however.

As I mentioned in the non MFC thread today, how is it that Brisbane keep drafting and successfully blooding goal kicking forwards, and now have 2 more in Lohmann and Morris that are now established in their best 22.

They got Danniher from Essendon and Hipwood out of the academy.

I agree - 2 teams going opposite directions right now.  Swans look unstoppable however if Brisbane get back to their best they could take them on GF day

Also think Carlton and Collingwood could account for Sydney on GF day, but that's for another thread.

We have plenty of tickets available for this match. A number of folks who’d registered interest in tickets have informed us they can’t/won’t attend.

We sit behind the goals in section 16/17, Wellington Rd end (Gate 8). No opposition colours in our bay. Dees only. 👍🏽

If interested, please email…

Come and sit with the loudest bunch of crazies on the planet!!!

We can win if we win the centre clearance (easier said than done against Brisbane but crucial at the GABBA) and kick straight.

I think our structure would look better with Turner in defence and TMac forward.

Tomlinson does not have a great match up even if Lever fails to get up.

Oliver to be rested for the remainder of this year

Come at me....

I'm not sure that would be good for his mental health - keep him active and involved. Boredom and disengagement can be toxic.

Agree and I'm not trying to be obtuse with my suggestion, or controversial

I wonder if he could be in the coaches' box as he gets his mind and body right?

2025, with all the stars aligning, we'll have The Trac back, and a rejuvenated Clayton?

Yep I agree chook, I still think we'd be better running him as sub for a while and give some youngsters a crack first.

Having him come on midway through the third as an impact player might be a better way to manage his fitness levels for the moment. Might be a better way to reduce his frustration with the heavy tags flright from the start of games too.

Can't See it happening though.

Can't see him being dropped either with Tracc out now.

He is one of the best midfielders I've ever seen. God I hope he gets back to his best somehow and he's still wearing our jumper.

A wicked problem for everyone at the club right now

I'll be there. Looking forward to it as I think we are winning this one.

$4.50 head to head @binman and +28.5 at the line. Tempting.........

He can remain active and involved at Casey. Not sure why he is playing tbh, he is not helping in anyway.

Not playing - just training and doing extra sessions, that he has to pay for

I'm sure he can afford it

No way - Howes, Tholstrup, Turner, Brown - these guys need to play every game this year, to see if they're going to make it

It's about 2-3 year planning now....2024 is cooked

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
