Max King? In terrible form for the Saints. Could find himself at Sandringham next week. Obviously lacks physicality but he is better than this. Leading goalkicker at least twice at StKilda averaging two goals a game over his career. Not sure Lyon's system suits him. I reckon a mutual parting of the ways could be in the offing. Not sure what sort of coin he's on but if they pay some and it's a second rounder might be worth the punt. At 23 fair chance some development ahead.

With all due respect, are you having a larf? Max is a pick 4 who is going to be reaching his peak between now and the next 5 or 6 years. His ceiling is Curnow levels of potential. Would you trade Clarry for a second rounder if he was having a down year in 2020? He's worth our first this year and possibly next year, although we'd try and get that down to a 1st and future 2nd and 3rd. Or maybe you'd like to throw in Rivers instead of that 2nd? Or Maybe just a straight swap for Clarry?

That is absolutely what it would take.

Ask any number of StKilda about their thoughts on Max King. I will refrain from his common nickname.  Curnow he will never be. I suspect the club and Max himself might be a little fed up with each other so who knows what might happen.Yeo, 2nd rounder might well be unders but what you're suggesting is way overs.

they'll still want to get something of actual value for him as it's perception as much as anything - he's the highest paid player on their list and very much the 'face' of the club

i think we'd be surprised who has the most value from our side from other sides; top three could well be:

  • jacob van rooyen
  • trent rivers
  • kozi pickett

i think they're probably the only three that would realise multiple first round picks, unless someone such as petracca was on the list

would i swap any of them for max king? not on your life!

but do i think they'd be the first three names the aints would mention? you betcha

No too old and Suns bound probably. This is not our greatest weakness. Solve our forward and mid lines and defence takes care of itself. Match winners needed not match savers !!

I wouldn’t have thought 27 is too old, getting him in would allow us to play Judd in the midfield. Improving our midfields decision making and kicking. But happy to see things differently.

1st pick and Bowey. Saints now want Bowey.

No. It probably wasnt worth mentioning. Just a bunch of mates that are all high paying members and devoted/desperate. They know/knew some of the FD and "always" know whats coming to the Saints. For 10 years they told me Rory Sloane was "Next Year" and then it was Amon "Next year". Not a good track record.

Just to be clear mate, you're saying Bowey and first rounder for Max King or are you saying Bowey for a first rounder?

If the latter is the case, I'm not doing that deal. Why would we? Bowser is arguably our best kick and was a first rounder himself.

No Jake was #21 in that draft IIRC.

Id do that deal myself If we finish mid-range. Not if we finish bottom 5. I also think it would be tempting to the Saints.

And did you mean "Former"?

Yeah, Jake was pick 21, which was first round that year. The pick slid due to academy access.

Bowey is one of my favourites so I am biased, but I'd do the deal if it meant King coming our way. Otherwise, nope.

Im a little disappointed in Jake as he was a local legend under-age. Id like to see him further up the ground before giving up hope. Quite possbly could blossom as Toby Bedford did at Giants. Hope it is for us but Max King wont come easy.

Bowzer is a massive Saints fan, so dont think hed be overly disgruntled if he left.

The big ? is Max King. Sure he'd walk in to our forward line and allow JVR to be #2, but like Petty he is very injury prone.

Bowey to Saints is billion to one odds. NWM, Sinclair, Bonner, Shoenmaker, Hastie....why would a team in need of a midfield go after another half back flanker.

Maybe if he was originally drafted by GWS there'd be more truth to it...

Dees reportedly into waterman from WCE. Wants to stay at Eagles but is being lowballed.

Perfect if we can get him. Source FoxFooty The Tackle. Geelong also into him.

I would be excited to watch Melbourne every week if he continued his early 2024 form (if he came over)

Is Waterman out of contract at the end of this year or next?

Is the salary cap going up next year? If we’re serious surely we could offer a bit with cap increase plus pending retirements.

Would be a very welcomed addition.

Max king reminds me of weideman or schache , no mongrel.

Waterman could work if we can get him.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
