Even if it did happen we weren’t keeping Jordon as he had an offer from the swans to play regular game time and was taking it. Rather than drafting and developing the youth coming through, we've topped up with discards from other clubs. And yes, I was totally against getting both Hunter and Billings at the time.

And I disagree with your final statement. When you add those blunders with Schache, Hore, Fullarton and McAdam, it is a huge reason as why we are where we are now.

And agree... the little selfless acts and big second efforts are the things that often separate teams that look very even on paper and recent form.

You can disagree but who would you have got instead? Easy to say we should’ve got better players but who specifically? 

Hunter, Billing’s, Schache, Hore and Fullerton were all basically free - who else was available for free that makes us better?

The problem is our best 3 mids aren’t playing well, guys like Sparrow and Rivers have gone backwards, Lever is out hurt etc. McAdam yes looks like a miss at the moment but swapping our no good depth for other teams no good depth hasn’t made any difference

Considering our list, last 3 seasons including 1 flag and two other top 4 finishes (the back to back straight set exits were hard to swallow) today for me is on par with 186. Today’s result was more than embarrassing, we are a joke of a club right now. Our last 3 weeks says a lot, beaten by the Eagles, a scrappy win over the hapless Saints and today’s destruction at the hands of Freo. As alluded to by others there’s something not right inside the club right now because we are obviously not as bad as we’re playing. Todays lack of effort was a statement by the players, todays loss requires more than just a review of the game. If Goody has lost the players he has to go straight away, we are currently spiraling out of control. Look at how many players Collingwood had out on Friday night and look at how the played, speaks volumes. 
Absolutely no excuses, none.

To me - a major issue is Clarry going from the best player in the league to not even in the top 100. He extracted everything and made everyone look good. it’s far from the only issue but but he nowhere near his level. 

Even in his first year he got the contested ball. give him the year off to get right?

I can’t help but feel the club has decided that Clarry struggling on the field is preferable to him struggling off it.

speaking with my sister earlier we think that the players were possibly sending a message to the club. it has a 186 feel to it.

Interesting to me that Goodwin acknowledged that our inconsistency and poor form has been going on all year, not just the last 4 weeks.

Good to hear him admit it. 

Worrying to know we’ve been unhappy with our form all year and it’s getting worse rather than better.

I’m talking about Trac’s spoil against Hawthorn. When he ran from the wing all the way to the defensive goal square and punched the ball through for a behind.

Don’t want to make an excuse for that horrible performance however it is so out of character. Is there another explanation other than being completely outplayed? 

During the pre match telecast they mentioned that it’s been raining heavily and the ground was wet and heavy. 

Since 2021 we haven’t played well mid season. It’s been a common theme for the past 3 years. Theory is that it’s got to do with a loaded training run during this period.

could a heavy, wet track and a loaded training regime explain this performance?

i know im clutching at straws but i cant just accept that the players gave up after 4 minutes.

It seems that Oliver has lost his zip. He used to be able to take possession and burst out of a stoppage. He also had a great ability to take a mark, turn and run past the player on the mark. 

he has become much more stagnant this year and has lost a yard or two from his games

Out of curiosity which player that was traded last year do you think Melbourne could have gotten and that would have made a significant difference to the side?

Our elite players have not lost their ability. Hopefully it was just the worst day. It's easy to think we will fall off a cliff but that is unlikely.

The Number of inexperienced players in the team makes us vulnerable to a bad day. We have quietly been refreshing the team.

The loss of Brayshaw and Melksham in career best form has been understated.

We have a young few players at Casey with serious potential. Not sure whether they will become very good or elite. Tholstrup, AMW, Jeffo, Brown,Sestan.

We need to recruit an elite FA.
