Kozzieland in the Alice, let's unleash the Demon within.

Carn you Dees!

💯❤️💙🫶🏆🥇🎯🎟🧿💰

Game starts at the ungodly hour of 5am my time so I will most likely be watching later at breakfast and coffee. People coming for lunch so I will celebrate/drown sorrows with some excellent wine and food.

Dees to win in AFS by 5 goals and move into 3rd on the ladder.

I took a leisurely drive to the game in Alice last year. What a shock and [censored] show that turned out to be!

This year, I am firmly ensconced at The Manor for what I expect to be a tough and close struggle.

Max will simply have to be more superhuman than ever as he is facing a two on one against a couple of serious players. As a team, a slow start must be avoided and we will need to take all our chances inside 50.  Fritta is always reliable but we will need contributions from McAdam and Petty.

Our defence will be the difference.

Dees by 13 points.

Not certain, but I think this is one ground where we kick particularly poorly for goal.

Just back from France and Portugal. Jet lag had me up at 3am. I’ve had breakfast and read the news, but the game is still 8 hours away. Go Demons.

We are actually ok at kicking for goal at Traeger Park, this is without OOF and no score shots.

Last year was a shocker, but the conditions were putrid.

In 9 games we are 106.95 since 2014.

Under Goody total is 77.64

2017 - 18.14 v Suns (W)

2018 - 23.8 v Crows (W)

2019 - 11.12 v Eagles (L)

2020 - 8.4 v Saints (W)

2022- 12.11 v Port (W)

2023 - 5.15 v Giants (L)

Well I got that wrong.

Must have been swayed by last year.

Game could go either way. Very similar for points for and against. One of the teams most similar to us in strengths and weaknesses, will mostly be up to our personnel to get it done. Need to curtail the likes of Young, Serong and Frederick.

I'm currently in the latter. 4am start.

Feels like a home-game though, as I've spent a bit of time living in Darwin in recent years. Shame AMW didn't get a call-up, just a 15 hour drive for his kin.

Chandler noted the sun was beating down at 18C in Alice yesterday, hopefully it's not too slippery.

Perfect conditions for footy and a typical Alice winter day, glorious sunshine, dry and a cool light breeze. The ground is looking good despite the rain earlier in the week. I’m not confident but I never am. MFCSS is real 😬🔴🔵🏆

I’ll take the 23.8. Actually 8.4 likely gets it done against Freo. Don’t care what it looks like we just need to get it done today.

it'll be a tough contested game. Freo no world beaters but they'll put up a fight. They remind me of us in a lot of ways. Plenty of heart and endeavour but not the most skilled.

Max has a busy day ahead dealing with Darcy and Jackson. He'll earn his pay check today.

Amiss is a very good forward but has a bad case of the yips at the moment. hopefully he doesn't rediscover his mojo against us. if he does we could be in trouble.

I think this is Kossies stage. He'll put on a show and get us over the line.

Fremantle’s best is very good, hope our pressure is up from the very start.

Hope our day is not merde

I reckon supporters of both sides will be wondering which version of their own team will turn up today. Or not turn up.

I think the hurricane last year didn’t help 😂

50-50 game really however with the competition so close, we really need to win today and next week to have a  real solid shot at top 4.

🥂🎂🍰🍺🎉🎁🎊

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

🎈🎈🎈KOZ!🎈🎈🎈

Now go out there and do what you did in this game in 2022… kick a lazy half dozen and whip the local kids into unbridled frenzy.

Dees by 16, midfield and ruck battle will be immense. Our class in the forward line will take us over the line. They simply don't have the same fire power we do, if we get supply we should win.

Game day baby. Pumped!

Go Dees. Need this win.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
