With McAdam in the squad, does Salo have a week in the 2s? Assume the other in either BBB/Fullarton

Look forward to seeing him. The skills he supposedly brings are exactly what we need in the forward half

Must be BB and McAdams for JVR and Disco.

A big ask for McAdams given he's played about 90 minutes of game time in about a year.

That would mean Fullarton is not, as otherwise they would have announced him too.

Keen to see Shane debut. Go well!

I don’t think McAdam playing has any relevance to whether Salem is in this week. If he’s fit, he plays. Probably at the expense of Woewodin.

Left field: Tommo in to the backline, and send May to FF, just for this game.
Tommo at least has decent form in the VFL, and I love to see May crash a few packs up forward.

May up forward (now that TMac has some better form and support) is a bold but worthwhile option; whatever, if it is not successful by half-time, back to defence, slipping Tracca up forward for longer spells. Fritta will be crucial, and smalls need to be alert for opportunities ahead.

I wouldn't mind Salo coming in and taking some of Trac's midfield minutes allowing him more time I50. But assuming BBB is coming in other moves would also be necessary...Woey out (stiff), Windsor sub?

In: BBB, McAdam, Salem

Out: Turner, JVR, Woey

Petty would be rucking I'd assume...

If no in game injuries I think McAdam and Salem would be chances to be subbed out, similar to Bowey last week.

These are the changes I’m anticipating. If one of the returning players isn’t starting sub then I think Billings is the most likely candidate.

Good stuff, all the best to ya Shane.

Salem's Player Ratings according to Wheelo Ratings

2021 - 10th for MFC (9.68 points)

2022 - 29th for MFC (5.15 points)

2023 - 21st for MFC (7.88 points)

2024 - 18th for MFC (7.72 points)

He is definitely not a lock in our best side.

Again, and i promise im not being facetious, do you mean if you were a selector or that you think goody thinks salo is not a lock in our best side?

I ask, because they are two different things.

Thrilled to see McAdam in the side. I wouldn't be surprised if Kolt is one of the inclusions for this round either.

Great to see McAdam get his chance.

I also think Dirk could be given a nod again.

Gawny going to ruck 100% of game time… or…

Sure, why not...

At the start of the year I was hoping they'd rest him for this game, however West Coast are far better at home than I could have imagined.

(can only imagine Petty and T Mac will share 7-8 minutes a quarter as back up. GC rucked defender Mac Andrew as a pinch hitter last week, so it's not out of the ream of possibility that T Mac could pinch hit ruck as a defender)

Could we see a return to the TMac pinch-hitting strategy for this week?

Congratulations Shane McAdam and MFC, really looking forward to seeing you running around in our colours against the Weagles, hope you have a great game, we need a bit more X-Factor in our side.!!

Fingers crossed that McAdam gets a good run at it. Would be handy to cement another marking option who brings some real pressure

I'm just looking forward to us playing a forward who actually holds overhead marks!

I can't see Woey being dropped as the game is in Perth, he has been sub several times and was one of our best when he came on against Carlton.

If anything, Chin could need a rest with his knee issues on a possible hard ground.

I would even have Woey in ahead of Billings.

Do posters actually ever inform themselves of the facts ??? Stop posting innacuate, dumb stuff.

Schache is injured,  didn't play the last game & is not available.

Posters still calling for McAdams inclusion despite Goodwin & the Club insisting he needed to play several games at Casey.

You were saying?

Shane would be delighted. This is a massive injection of confidence for him and confidence is everything when it comes to game-day. So proud of him. ❤️💙

I reckon he will play Discos role - if he can - providing agility and a marking option.  Im not 100% that he has the tank so may stay closer to goal.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
