Always though the "Suns" was such a lame name. They should merge with Southport Sharks, rebrand as the Gold Coast Sharks and use the Sharks guernsey but in red & yellow.

Apparently “Sharks” was too offensive and aggressive. Not even joking.

Still an amateurly run club, kinda like ourselves when CS released the MFC shield with 20 million things happening in it.

Never forget the Blazers!

I've been saying for a while, one of three things will happen to the Suns - either fold, merge or relocate.  They're simply not viable as they are.  As for the new logo, I reckon the Year 7 Visual Communication Design class at my school could come up with something better.

I heard they were approached but declined. Something about ruining their reputations when  they will soon hit the job market.

A football team adopt an aggressive moniker ... outrageous for a competive, contact football code!

The Sharks were good enough for East Freo in the WAFL.

According to their logic, MFC should have remained the Fuchsias instead of become the feared Demons and going on a 30+ year reign of 10 Premierships ... no room for aggression in this sport 😁

I also recall what Ethan is saying about using the sharks. That ridiculous argument was put forward back in the the inception of the suns. Was then, and still is, bewildering to me.

I suppose so but you don't see too many clubs running round with that kind of branding. Eg. Could you imagine Essendon running around with a giant 'B' on all their apparel? Or Collingwood with 'M' etc

The D's?

Are sharks more or less aggressive than lions? Tigers?  Devils? Swooping annoying magpies? Asking for a friend.  Even swans can have their moments of aggression.

Seeing as more people die of skin cancer each year I think the Suns is the scariest of the team names!

No issue with the colours, but the jumper design is pox.

And that stupid looking logo that looks like a lifesaver has been spaghettified by crossing the event horizon of a  black hole. Who was the idjit who approved that? Not even sure they still use it.

Rebranding: The act of making some people feel better, but actually achieving nothing.
Which is how Gold Coast have always operated

Every time i see them play they are wearing a different crappy jumper…

Meh….

Nothing wrong with a rebranding per se. They’ll now have a heritage guernsey to wear. The new logo, if legit, is putrid though, in my opinion.

I thought it was due to Southport being the Sharks and it alienating the other non-Southport supporters up there? Or was that just about them being Southport and not Gold Coast? I may be getting my wires crossed.

Sharks is a great name for a footy team, if they knocked it back due to being too aggressive then that tells you all you need to know about the spivs running the league.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
