Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Crunch Time

Can’t believe what I just heard Dermie say on crunch time (well l can actually) he basically said that Oliver took short steps with Darcy Forgerty on the lead Thursday night.

Just a bit more fuel on the fire to stick it up these outdated media [censored]

How much more credibility can this dinosaur lose.

To suggest that Clarries effort was soft especially with all the concussion concerns now & one of his best mates forced into retirement is embarrassingly pathetic

You would see a harder ball player than Clarry
Oh yeah and then Tom Morris said that Kozzies action was similar to Maynard’s against Gus!!

He's a total di#khead.

Having said that, I did notice that too. But I think Clarry's actions were quite reasonable. Getting concussed is not a great option. I think that this will become more common ... it doesn't need the media to call it out.

There were similarities in the action. That is a fact. Saying the are similarities is fine, they weren’t the same though. The differences are the Koz was much closer to Soligo when starting his action (so less reaction time) and the force was not even in the same ballpark.

I thought he could have spoiled too, but he is up there with Jack Viney as one of our toughest players.

All the noise in the media regarding Kozzie, we know the AFL pick and choose what to suspend players for depending on who you are.

Best way to shut em up? Keep winning. Us v them mentality.

I thought Clarry’s issue was more his hand and not wanting to spoil with it.

But he’s also a strange player Oliver, he’ll charge at the ball through traffic but he doesn’t wear contact well.

When he’s not playing well he feels contact and dishes the ball with costly turnover handballs rather than absorbing tackles like Cripps does. Or Viney or Tracc.

I’m not saying he’s not super brave, he’s just a different type of brave.

This won’t be popular but the biggest similarly is that both Soligo and Gus did very little to protect themselves. Players are so wary of bumping now they leave themselves open. If Soligo turned in to Pickett they bounce off each other with no worries

Yep it was noticeable but I think its a bit much calling it short steps.  One of the tougher players I have seen at the Dees.

Go Clarrie.

Dermie is a complete numpty. I ignore him studiously. I reckon he would choke if he had to give the Dees any praise.

Surely he had a bitter pill to swallow on September 25, 2021. I hope he couldn't sleep that night 🤭

Dermie🤡 has always hated the Dees.  He misses so much obvious things.  Oliver couldn’t spoil due to his right hand which clearly is restricting him. Oliver has never taken short steps.

Note that 🤡Dermie also says the Blues lack for midfield runners and have only Cripps as a gun mid.  He has forgotten about a bloke called Sam Walsh and Adam Cerra.  Footy Expert? Hardly !!!

There's also the -what is for me - the main element. Which, as one commentator pointed out, had Oliver stood his ground, he would have hit Fogarty front on and been suspended.

Spot on.

The football media is dominated by these boneheads.

And what happens when one shuffles of to ABC special comments (eg McClure)?

They get replaced by recently retired boneheads, who have zero public speaking skills, like hodge.

Selwood is the latest. Just like Jonesy, he has been ok. But low bar.

The recently retired players bring current knowledge about the game, which often makes them interesting.

But the pattern is none continue to do any work to update their knowledge, so after 2-3 years they lose their value as people who are up with current trends eyc.

But remain terrible public speakers.

If anything Clarry has come back going after more body contact this year. Watch the Bulldogs game where he sprints 100m of gut busting running collects the ball, smashes the bloke who gets in his way and passes to ANB who dribbles in through.

Anybody who goes after Clarry for click bait or publicity i write off. Dermie was tough but he is a moron.

It may not be popular but he definitely shirked contact. Not saying he is soft but Fogarty is a few kegs short of a dump truck and there’s not many in the AFL that would have taken that hit.

It's interesting, I thought he took short steps too, but to be honest - 5 years a go, I would have thought 'he heard footsteps' - now as far as I am concerned - it's just duty of care these days.

But you know... a narrative is just a narrative.

You can't stop water from being wet, and nor can you stop Dermot from being...

I am glad he didn’t initiate contact.

There could have been a clash of heads and Clarry would have been suspended for choosing to bump.

Take it to the bank.

Smart move imo.

Anyone questioning Clarry’s bravery is simply best ignored.

That's Just pure stupidity.

As for Oliver perhaps the fact he's playing with one hand is a sign of his toughness.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
