POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Port Adelaide

Featured Replies

Outstanding win, 4 qtrs effort across all lines. Don't underestimate it, on the road, rolled the sleeves up and went to work.

ANB BOG

Lever huge

Trac measured

Gawn leadership personified

Brown & Fritsch finishing with class

Caleb absolute Jet

JV7's heart is as big as the Adelaide oval

Could go on all night...soak it in!!

💪

I'm just wondering how many litres of bleach has gone through Dermie's hair over the last 40 years.

Shouldn’t have won that. -21 i50s, 7 marks i50 vs 14, umpires playing catchup on the free kick count after half time. Lots against us but we were harder for longer.

Nibbler, BBB, Fritsch did what needed to be done when it needed to be done. Their “guns” are still soft as [censored] and they can look forward to another disappointing end to the year.

Go the [censored] Dees!!

Dumbest comment of the year. Did you expect us to win a different way or? Make it make sense with some people 🤦

What.

How about all the smashed crabs wearing Port gear in the crowd? Couldn't leave quick enough after Fritta's goal

That group behind Ben Browns kick were straight out of Deliverance.

Thought Marty Hore did a good job down back. It's a pleasure having him back at the club.

I wouldn’t say an A grader. However, he’s an improving playing even at his age. It’s more the mental now. ANB is athletic, with a tank, but a cooler head than we see. He is aging well, and he will improve.

What is not A grade about his current form?

15 goals from only 45 entries is awesome

Yeah I was skeptical after the Sydney game of our forward line, so I’ll eat some humble pie, things are working very well so I was wrong.

Massive win. ANB was superb.

Also, well in T. Mac for getting into Rozee after that head flick during the tackle AND well done to Lever for getting the group together and getting them composed after it.

Kade Chandler was good again tonight and playing really well to start the season. I was worried about him but he's lifted after his end of season slump last year

Great goals from Windsor, Brown, Gawn, ANB and Fritta.

Loved Fritta response to the ferals over the fence after he kicked that goal from the sidleine at 50, was priceless. Didn’t look like there were too many brain cells over the fence tbh.

Dermie keeps prattling on about the expected score. what a goose.

Fitness - 11/10. we ran over the top.

Midfield/stoppage/clearance - 3/10 for first 3 quarters, 15/10 for last quarter.

Field kicking - 1/10 for 3 quarters. 8/10 last quarter.

Lever, Viney, Max, BBB, - epic leadership.

Goal kicking - 9/10.

Umpiring was poor to both teams, no advantage. 5/10

We really ran the wind out of Port, with persistence, higher levels of fitness and a more achievable 'method' moving forward. Great effort boys, inspiring outcome.

Thought his free kicks against were bit naive. But positions himself well.

Soldo is such a dumb looking [censored].

Maxy: “It’s wins like this that show we are united”… we have a great culture ❤️

Yes 🙌

Chandler was terrific, many times. He is like ANB, small profile, big efforts, almost a team saviour presenting himself in opportunities and creative chances. Very good goalkicker, too.

At the end of the day nothing shuts down hearsay and innuendo like winning.

Nothing matters but the players in these rooms.

I'm proud to say that today's match was the first Melbourne game I've attended interstate.

What a bloody win. Couldn't be prouder of the boys.

I just hope your car isn't on blocks. They don't take too kindly to normal people over there

Lol @ Port feral fans.

So many beards and tattoos. The men looked even worse.

And we won with many not near their best and our No.1 backman not on the park.

Is Thurs too early for a Maysie return 🤔

Absolutely LOVE that we won a game where we lost the main stats and the expected score. There’s nothing better than seeing a team take their chances.

My favourite part was Fritsch screaming “[censored] you” at the Port supporters when he kicked the sealer.

Unfortunately I missed the first qtr, but the game looked pretty slippery even though it was a hot and dry day in Adelaide? Was that just the humidity?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
