Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I definitely do. Hating on a club like North is one thing, but their fans, especially young fans, don’t deserve this.

Norths glory years of the late 90’s was only 25 years ago. Let them suffer for another 30 like most of ours did, then they may get a little sympathy from me.

It’s why the AFL for me has become unbearable to watch. If the Dees weren’t in it, I would’ve (and just about have) given it away years ago. It has become so business driven, and what is best for that business to succeed, that the football aspect has been neglected for some time now.

Grass roots local footy is so much purer and more enjoyable to witness. Go and get yourself a team to follow outside of the national/state leagues. It is way more fun to watch and be a part of. You feel like you’re part of a real community.

I genuinely hate AFL. I barely watch games that don’t involve Melbourne anymore and for the first time in my Melbourne supporting life, I’m skipping away games where I know the opposition crowd will make the experience unbearable (eg- Kings birthday). It’s no longer worth it for me.

Umpires, score reviews, MRO, the fixture, academy picks…there is not one element of the league right now that I don’t think is a sick joke.

I am as die hard and footy mad as anyone I know, but my love of the game has diminished so much in the last few years, and something was permanently broken after the Maynard debacle.

It’s a good thing I am so proud of our club and where it stands, because otherwise I don’t think I’d be interested in the game at all anymore.

Freo v Crows should be interesting. hard to pick

You’d imagine Freo get it done at home but these games are ones the Crows need to win if they make finals

Collective apathy is the only winner in that game DD.

Look at what they’ve done to the draft. 20 years ago it was a very simple process that was fun to listen to on the radio.

Now that they’ve americanised it, you need to set aside 4 hours for the first round alone. It’s all big business.

Aussie Rules is a great game. The AFL is doing its darnedest to ruin it.

They should have been sent to the Gold Coast. The AFL [censored] stuffed this right up. In 4 years North will still be a Basket Case, and Tassie will be loading up

Could Tasmania genuinely become the first team to 150,000+ members? There’s a fair chance I say, just to stick it up the AFL who have taken forever to rightly give them their own team.

Your constant conspiracy theorising is tiresome.

Also, probably not accurate here. How much media was generated by their 0-3 start? It was all over every paper and website. The more they lose, the more attention they get.

Disagree. We all need some good conspiracy theories in our lives. Would this even be an internet forum if there wasn’t a few conspiracies floating around.

Me too Jaded. The people I sit with decided we won't go to another away KB game. At least until the club include the cost of a rabies shot in a tridents membership package.

A lot of people seem sad that they're no longer young on this thread. Sporting culture changes, and we'll never be able to go back to those times. Yes there are some negative things about the AFL right now. But let's not be lumping the changing of the draft night broadcast in with what happened to Angus Brayshaw and the disgusting pies fans for example.

Footy is a huge business with 18 different clubs and fan cultures. There's the different intersecting industries (gambling, journalism, medicine, food, merchandise). There's so much going on in and around the game and so much change compared to the past that of course you can find things you're not going to like. It's up to you to decide whether the things you like outweigh the things you don't.

Personally I still like the game, and I like it just as much as I did 20 years ago. In fact I probably spend more time listening, talking about it and watching it now than ever. Plenty I'd change, but overall I'm still invested beyond just the Demons.

For those going to Kings Birthday, speak to your doctor about Doxy PEP. It’s a post exposure short course of antibiotics that significantly reduces your chances of bacterial infections.

Carlton a genuine chance for the flag? Not just a smokey but a bonafide absolute shot at taking this year’s flag.

Yeah, yeah…posters will bring up who they’ve beaten so far. But I’m firmly in the Carlton for the flag camp.

Genuine flag contenders need 2 things. A dynamite midfield and either a great forward line or backline to make up for the weaker one.

Brisbane in the 2000’s had it across all 3 areas, the Hawks 3 peat had the mids and forwards, the Cats in the 2000’s had the mids and defenders, we had the mids and the defenders. Carlton certainly have the forwards to cover their weaker defence, it’s the depth of their midfield that I’m still unsure of. Outside of Cripps, who else is A-grade? They’ll need several of Acres, Newman, Cerra, Hewett to step up when the whips are cracking at the business end to salute.

I think on what we've seen so far that Sydney and GWS are front runners, with Carlton and Melbourne following closely behind.

Sam Walsh will take Carlton’s midfield to the next level.

The player that was nominated the best player of last years finals series and single handedly beat us in the semi  final, as well as kick starting them in the last quarter of round 22 against us.

We’ll find out more about our chances over the next 3 games. The other 3 have so far shown more this year imo.

Don’t know how I forgot about him. His injury has taken him out of the headlines I guess. He certainly will help their cause.

Gotta give it to Carlton for their accuracy today, 21.6 in front of goal. Look at where they’re taking their shots and where we tend to take ours………..coincidence I think not.

Once North's young brigade get some bigger bodies you'll see a difference. Until then they'll have to make do with Eddie Ford's sideburns.

Still trying to figure out that if the dogs are 1.05 favourites, why aren’t the eagles closer to the $20 mark instead of the $10?

Shouldnt the dogs be 1.10? Either way, easy money. Swans also juicy odds at $1.20. #gambleresponsibly#

I reckon GWS is better than Carlton. They look like they have every part of their game sorted and are ready. Quick, hard at it and their kicking is the best in the league.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
