And apologies to JV7 and CW6… couldn’t fit 14 players into the votes

Plenty of candidates, which is pleasing.

6 Petracca - great all-round performance.

5 Fritsch - excellent marking and finishing.

4 Gawn - aerially dominant as usual.

3 Salem - superb disposal skills that often go under the radar.

2 Petty - versatility invaluable after the two injuries.

1 ANB - it's just a pity his skill level doesn't quite match his phenomenal workrate.

Unlucky to miss out: nearly everyone.

6. Petracca - was everything, everywhere

5. Gawn - dominant with strength and class

4. Neal-Bullen - worked his backside off from the first bounce

3. Oliver - a very Clayton game

2. McDonald - held the backline together even without his two big buddies. stacks of timely spoils

1. Pickett - Irresistible pressure and pure class

Fritta making Sicily wish he was suspended, is worth 6 votes

Trac - dominated.

Gawn - huge.

ANB - big early

Langdon - also big early.

Sparrow - back to form

Pickett - just electric.

HM: Viney, Fritta and Riv.

Very happy with the newbies Howes and the Duke. Sparrow was better than the previous 2 games.

Because he actually played in his role as an inside mid. Salem didn’t play midfield today at all.

5 goals to Fritta not worth a vote? 😀

Another very even team performance.  The Hawks tried to ‘niggle’ us off our game, but we stuck ‘fat’, and stuck by each other.  I loved it!

The latter votes were a bit hard for me to untangle, but this is my best shot:
6.  Petracca  -  mid, forward or back.  Just a powerful and stellar game!
5.  Fritsch  -  five goals in the modern game is very bloody good.
4.  Gawn  -  showed once again, why he’s the best leader, and the best ruckman in the game.
3. Oliver  -  so happy to have him back, so happy to have him happy, so happy to have him getting back to his best.
2. ANB  -  an absolute workhorse, who doesn’t always get the credit …… but he certainly earned it today!
1.  Langdon  -  back to his best, which is very, very good.

Lots of ‘special’ mentions (which comes with a very even team performance).  Sorry if I miss some but, in no particular order:  Pickett, Windsor, Howes, McVee, Rivers and Viney.

Kozzie - beautiful moments perfect predator

Gawn solid

Petty, great call to play him, missed some shots but presented well, perfect wingman.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
