For all the doom and gloom, we are still in this. Massive rocket needed at half time.

Totally agree, as usual we're competing and defending well and can win this and then the same old thing.

Gotta ask about selection decisions again and our forward set up.

Fritsch seems to have the confidence of a 16 year old boy in a brothel.

Schache did not chase his opponent at one point

We also aren't physical enough. A number of times we didn't put body on opponents to protect their team mates who had possession.

Salem seems to be the only player right now who has consistently clean foot skills.

Too many passengers. 2Q thoughts:

- Thank goodness for Windsor

- Oliver looks undercooked

- Gawn doing well

- ANB, Salem and Howes playing well

- Laurie and Schache having a mare

I have given up on Laurie, not sure he'll get too many opportunities this season.

Petraca has to play like Dustin Martin, he isn't at the moment. Too scared to have a crack at goal.

Laurie, not impressed.

JVR needs to do something in the 2nd half.

Disagree. Players are having cracks at goal and missing when they should be handing it off to players in better positions. That's nerves. They all want to be the man to fix our forward line issues, when the way to do it is to hit someone in a good spot with low pressure on them so they can kick it. It's not a hard concept to grasp but in the heat of the moment we all seem to go to pot and spray it.

Is JVR playing as a CHF or a deep forward?

Gotta be the worst half of footy I’ve ever seen Trac play.

Schace is too meek, can’t see him ever changing.

Looks slippery as hell out there

Disappointed that we debut Billlings as sub, particularly after our media team made a big deal over our three debutants this game. Surely he deserved his spot after the praccies over a couple of others out there.

The finger did look to flicker as the ball passed through, not like we deserve much to be honest.

It was clearly touched.

Can’t believe we are that bad yet only 7 behind. The SCG is such a horrible ground, so congested. Awful game

JFC I am sick of those finger nail goal reviews from 40 meters! They all go against us. I don’t think the Swans even claimed a touch.

And for the life of me I didn’t see a single finger on ANB’s goal. Not sure how they made that decision so quickly.

I’m glad I’m not the only one, sickeningly BT was the only one that actually said “hold on I’m not seeing a finger move there”. All for the decision changing when it’s blatantly clear, but to me there wasn’t absolute evidence of a touch.

It's so ridiculous. They seem to be being tricked by the lighting changes as the hand and fingers rotate as the ball passes, plus there's the shadow from the ball. A terrible blight on the game to overturn decisions on such inconclusive evidence.

Goody should put him on early in the 3rd for Laurie. Why wouldn't you exchange an ammo's level player for a proven silky mid with great skills?

I can’t stand the media orchestrating the AFL’s agenda. Why no replay of the ANB touched goal? It’s a huge call, show it.

Same old problems throughout the first half.

Forward line almost non-existent. Too many long bombs, with Van Rooyen constantly outnumbered and outmarked. Chandler and Spargo totally ineffective.

Laurie managed four fumbles in two minutes.

Fritsch off target with his kicking and dropping marks.

Gawn unable to dominate.

Defence the only bright spot, with Howes looking solid.

If Goody doesn't come up with a plan B, we are cooked for tonight.

Fritta gets out muscled at every contest. No body strength at all. So frustrating

The umpires call was a goal and it was over ruled. Wrong!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
